Trying to keep this going as a daily thing but although it is far from a normal occurrence for me, I am trying to give my all and cover as much as I can by going through all the spectrum. Here we go ...:
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee
[Crackle -> Netflix]
Jerry Seinfeld has been such a phenomenon with his standup career and of course the self titled show. Now he is arguably financially set for life, he is free to do whatever he pleases and he did just that by living privately and off the radar so to speak, that was until now with his own series of getting in cars with fellow comedians and have a conversation on the way to get coffee! The concept and premise is pretty straightforward but what makes it a wholly unique entity is the charming personality of Jerry himself and his particular style of comedy and how these will play off the comic of the episode every time. Since he is such a renowned comedian himself with decades of experience under his belt, Seinfeld use that to his advantage to bring in close friends and even legends of the art and having honest and of course entertaining exchange with every one of them, which is the charming aspect of the show that I look forward the most to. Whether he knows them deeply or just in passing, you know that they will be able to talk about the medium in any which way and I can guarantee that all of them will be a joy to watch.
Cyberpunk 2077
Ah, what a nice surprise to have a reveal of a much anticipated video game that is over 47 minutes long! CD Projekt is such an ambitious developer but considering their phenomenal the Witcher trilogy, you know that you will get the best product they can offer if given the proper time to develop them. Changing genre from Third Person Action to First Person Shooter is such a massive undertaking to steer the employees in another direction after years of working in a certain way (that works) let alone tackling a whole different fiction division after effectively adapting the books into one of the best TPA series out there. Seeing how seamless the transition is for Resident Evil, I can see the almost same level of quality and polish in this extended preview but the mindblowing scale and how fully realised the world is makes me wish the next Deus Ex game should be exactly like this! All this body augmentation certainly gives me the vibes and feel of that Eidos series, just without the gold tint, but having the ability to approach a mission in multiple ways and couple that with an open world universe ala GTA V, my hesitation on this project (if any) have vaporized in an instant and makes me wait for the eventual release with glee! Oh, just like the Witcher, I am excited that they will embrace the more mature subjects and use that M rating to its fullest! Cyberpunk should not be toned down at all, you should embrace it fully!
Fate of the Furious
[Universal Pictures]
Reveling in the fact that we will be getting a spinoff with Hobbs and Shaw for a second here, I came across this film on my Astro and just let it played in the background to remind me how far the franchise has gone and how badly it needs a break from itself. Using Dom against the family was a smart play but having such a serious take on everything in a series of street racers using cars to save the world is certainly a jump the shark moment in and of itself. Don't take me wrong, they have mastered the art of fast paced chase sequences and car set pieces that would be worth the price of admission alone, but when you bring a submarine into the equation, you know that's a bridge too far even for them. Let's hope they'll reel themselves back in after the (possible yet guaranteed) success of that duo flick!
