Avengers: Infinity War
Mini Non-Spoiler Review
[26th of April, 2018]
[PG-13, 1hr 47min, Action, Adventure, Nostalgia, Pop culture, Science Fiction]
Numerous complains have been made on the sporadic appearances of Thanos prior to this third Avenger ensemble film and how he is portrayed as someone who couldn't back up the claims he made throughout, being viewed as a someone powerless who is just watching on the sideline. Now with the promise of Infinity War being the reintroduction of the Mad Titan and his quest for the Infinity Stones, I can safely say after seeing it the opening night that this should be called Thanos: Infinity War since it is basically an origin story for him and his main motivations, how he is justifying his intention to wipe out half of the universe despite the massive implication behind his actions. If the post-credit scene of Thor: Ragnarok did not give a foreboding foreshadowing, the opening scene should set your mind at ease that this is going to be the biggest threat they will ever face yet.
The Black Order that is helping him to round up the Stones are the most formidable opponents the Avengers have faced as they are caught by surprise by the Children of Thanos and had to fight on three different fronts to defend the Stones, had to team up to fight even one of them let alone two! These are all the side stories that are giving way to the main storyline of the Titanian and his backstory that involves Gamora and Nebula, although the focus has been heavily on the former and her relationship with her 'adopted father'. This in turns makes him much more human and relatable, or at least understandable, just like how Killmongers in Black Panther had an understandable point of view although with a distorted way to achieve it. In my opinion, Thanos is played perfectly by Josh Brolin and he is the highlight of the film by far as his CGI looks and appearance looks perfect and I can right away see him as a fully breathing being and let me relate to him even deeper. That third act twist makes me even sympathize him as his grand ambition takes first place in favour of personal feelings and personal ties. The theme of family and responsibility runs through the whole feature as the characters that are developed over the years in the preceding MCU films have progressed so much that you are rooting for them to survive this tsunami wave until the end.
It's not all doom and gloom as the apocalyptic tone is being balanced by the amount of levity brought upon by the surprising amount of humour littered across the film, alternating between the scenes as this rollercoaster ride would leave you breathless at the end of it. I believe the tone is balanced perfectly and the jokes and quips are timely delivered but comedy is subjective and everyone have their own personal preferences, so do keep an open mind. One thing that I can guarantee everyone would look forward to is to finally see all these Marvel characters from across the Cinematic Universe to finally interact with each other and their first interactions are the best part! This is a rare film that I would be watching again since the first IMAX 3D experience was quite taxing and how it ended left me shocked to the core ... are you joining me for a second viewing? Have you watched it? What do you think about it?

P.S. I believe I want to make a full spoiler review down the line, even a full podcast on it! Well ... I hope so!
P.P.S. That post-credit scene makes me look forward for that solo film even more! 2019 can't come soon enough!
