"It's clobberin' time!"

What If 003 & Movie Preview 018
Fantastic Four
fan-casting
 MARVEL
[2020?]
With the impending Disney acquisition of FOX is nothing but a sure thing now, reportedly to be finalized next year's summer, there is understandable rumour brewing of Marvel Studios would inevitably include the X-Men universe into the Marvel Cinematic Universe eventually in the upcoming Phase Four. The other big speculation is the studio giving the superhero family that started it all for them, Fantastic Four, a proper live action adaptation as the direction appears to go much more cosmic! Die hard fans are at going frenzy speculating wildly when they could be introduced in the current schedule and current events and whom would be the best cast to represent such icons.

Chance of Probability =  85% with all of them prime for their first superhero roles.

a case for the superhero family to be welcomed into the fold:
+ Highlights +
With the family dynamic something that has not been delved into in this Universe (Thor's is more regal and Shakespearean, this is more grounded and relatable), they should see the Incredibles franchise as the perfect example. How they would be introduced, it will be such a sight to see!
? Main contention ?
Since they originated from the late 60's from what timeline would they come from? Would they come from the past i.e. 70's and being transported into the future or would they just come into the picture right after the invasion of Thanos, coming out of hiding or possibly being created in the process? Or they just come here from a different dimension, there is a precedence.
- Lowlights -
They are a smart company and would take their time to find the best possible circumstances to introduce Fantastic Four, making us wait years and years into the future (2020 and above?) to even mention the group's name in the discussion of the next Phase. The same can be said for X-Men.
-
a case for the intelligent leader of the family:
- John Krasinski as Dr. Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic -
+ Highlights +
He is showing his range as a capable actor from comedy in the Office US series and action in 13 Hours in Benghazi and now horror in a Quiet Place. He is in the perfect age to lead a possible franchise!
? Main contention ?
Might not have the typical look of Mister Fantastic but he can certainly transform physically (in putting muscles up or doing physical gags).
- Lowlights -
The studio might prefer to cast much more recognized and experienced to lead the risky project.
--

a case for the strong backbone of the family:
- Emily Blunt as Sue Storm aka Invisible Woman -
+ Highlights +
Being in more features than her other half, she has showcase diversity as seen from her track record especially in the sci-fi genre i.e. Looper, the Adjustment Bureau and All You Need is Kill Edge of Tomorrow. She can be dramatic as well, just like in a Quiet Place.
? Main contention ?
Having been in a lot of conversation for fan-casting such as this for previous superhero female fatale roles, she is always been at the top of the list of women fans want to see in a heroin role.
- Lowlights -
She said she isn't interested in taking on this genre at the moment, but it could be a smokescreen.
---

a case for the hotheaded xyz of the family:
- Zack Efron as Johnathan Storm aka the Human Torch -
+ Highlights +
Needing a spiry actor to properly represent a manchild full of energy and exudes charisma (for the ladies ...), they couldn't find a better candidate that fits the bill. He is practically one in real life!
? Main contention ?
He have the acting chops to be dramatic and not just comedic but his name could still conjure up the image of his Disney Channel days. He still needs some works to do for his name to be just like Dwayne Johnson, the movie star instead of the wrestler-turned-actor.
- Lowlights -
Trying to break out of the High School Musical shadow, I believe he already did so with xyz and the Greatest Showman (well, maybe not that Baywatch reboot).
----
a case for the calm yet sturdy xyz:
- John Cena as Ben Grimm aka the Thing -
+ Highlights +
Speaking of which, here is a wrestler that has been following on the Rock's footstep successfully by setting himself apart with his impeccable comedic timing and endless charms.
? Main contention ?
Being the more quiet and gentle soul of the family, it might be a different venture that he definitely is capable in talking if given the opportunity. Since it's more likely to be CGI rather than putting on a practical suit that's definitely going to look inferior, it is how much the personality and characteristics that could come through all that 'digital makeup'. Just like Bradley Cooper for Rocket Raccoon!
- Lowlights -
The thing about the Thing though is that the transformation from the human body into the signature rock version tie into the state of mind of the character so one would wonder how the already buff John Cena could have his own twist on it. It is a fresh take at least, trying to make up for that Michael Chiklis' interpretation years ago!
-----

a case for the King of Latveria, ruler with an iron fist:
- Ben Mendelsohn as Victor von Doom aka Dr. Doom -
+ Highlights +
Since being typecast as a villain, he has been able to add layers upon layers to his portrayal rather than just being a typical mustache-twirler. Being intimidating yet vulnerable is his specialty!
? Main contention ?
Introducing another fictional region after Wakanda could be a bit too much if follow too closely. It needs to perfectly used so let's hope they'll take the necessary actions!
- Lowlights -
He might be a bit older compared to Mister Fantastic specifically. He's just perfect though!
