As I am carefully driving ...

faulty - patch - needless
pet peeves Monday 011 & misc list 023
I had another one that I thought of before but just couldn't remember right now so I'm using one readily available in my back pocket. I am wondering of the lack of responsibility on the case of the local JKR (the government department that handle local roadworks ... I don't know what it's called in your place):
#034: street lights
Truth be told, I am not that brave when I am alone in the dark but I am used to drive in the dark now and being accompanied only by my bike's front light since I was actively confronting my fears by driving through the back roads among the plantations going back and forth from the university to my hometown years ago. With that being said, when they do install a row of road lights on the side of the road, is it too much for me to ask for them to actually work? I would be much more disappointed when seeing them just standing there in the dark rather than they not being there at all ... how are you really using the government's money?
#035: broken road
Speaking of which, the road I always use in my daily commute plays heavily into the factor of comfort I am feeling on my bike, more specifically the condition of the road itself. As I've mentioned before, the endless expansion of the roads in the vicinity have left the road worse for wear as virtually endless potholes and unevenness of the road (there are 'curves' on the surface rather than just flat, normal, even surface) and how they 'try' to fix this that left me fuming even more! The proper process is to excavate the damaged road down and apply the road tar in the empty space until it is leveled with the already existing road (or a bit higher and would be machined or pressed down until it is leveled to ensure much more compact foundation). The problem arises when they hire  contractors to just apply the tar on top of the pot holes and ... that's it! Not even trying to level it down or something! Instead of me going down into the hole, I am going up! Well, at least my tires are less prone to damage this way!
#036: traffic lights
I'm not quite sure who is handling the traffic lights around the region (it's the same one, right?) but I was told that they are not really use the weight scale to decide who goes next but rather timing based. I am fine with it and I for once would not mind waiting at the traffic lights strictly for safety but what really grinds my gear is when the timing is off! A few second I can stomach but not a full minute or two! Geez!

Well, that's all folks! Thank you for your time and please do come back for my future posts! :-)
