Trailer Review 014 & Movie Preview 026
Christopher Robin
DISNEY
[August 3rd, 2018]
Trailer(s) Effectiveness 80% for setting up the main premise of the film and teasing Pooh with his teddy bear look and iconic voice by Jim Cummings and co.
I've been championing this recent endeavours by Disney and with this recent full trailer showcasing of their latest effort to adapt the much beloved characters, I am being introduced again with that familiar warm and fuzzy feelings. Just like how I was brightened by the introduction of Pooh at the end of the first teaser, I was smiling from ear to ear when Christopher Robin help Pooh in searching for the crew back, hearing the familiar voices coming out of the 'live-action' 'teddy bear' counterpart of our beloved animated crew. Rather than a straight adaptation with us following Christopher when he is young and playing with Pooh and co, we actually see the magical world through his adult jaded eyes, reluctantly coming back to help the honey-loving bear and inadvertently going back into the same grooves that his young counterpart would revel in before, seeing him feeling that same joy again albeit for a split second. The trailer might have revealed a bit too much of the storyline which is the disease of the mediums lately but when they see how he is now in needs, they bravely come out of the hidings into the real world to save his relationship with his family, most importantly the young daughter. I can already see how my heart will be warmed from start to finish just like when I watched the Peanuts movie and I hope you are open to be joining me in this healing trip.
Chance of Success
85% with a capable charismatic lead in Ewan McGregor and bringing the Winnie the Pooh entourage 'to life' would be hit with the younger demography.

a case for the journey back down the memory lane:
+ Highlights +
It is heartwarming to see the smile on his face when he is back among his childhood friends, with how they are being excellently brought to life with realistic CG bodies that are being completed with the iconic voices we knew and loved from before.
? Main contention ?
This journey by Christopher Robin back into his magical childhood to get away from the heaviness of reality and refresh his viewpoint of his life should gives you the push that is needed to do the same.
- Lowlights -
The uneducated 'purists' would still view the 'teddy bear' version unauthentic despite the origin of the characters, still want the animated version to be brought to life ... but this is it, though.
