casting, closure, reimagining, and everything in between ...

"THIS IS WHAT WE’VE BEEN TRAINING FOR ALL THESE YEARS."
Yes, Avatar: the Last Airbender is being adapted yet again for a Netflix live action series adaptation, as last Tuesday's tweet indicated. If that sends shiver down your spines as it did to me, be assured (or at least less terrified) that the original creators are in and will come back to spearhead this ambitious venture. YES! This gives me hope, even a little.

"I am not what you think I am."
It may have been a bit underwhelming for the detractors if compared to other MCU film trailers but please take into account that it is just a teaser, albeit a long one, doing its job to introduce the premise and the main protagonist. Seeing Nick Fury and Phil Coulson when they were in their infancy would a be blast for me (since I watched Agents of SHIELD religiously) but the Kree-Skrull war would be the most interesting variable here and the event in this film would tie into her introduction in the fourth Avengers film.

"Hi, I'm Chucky. Wanna play?"
Child's Play reboot is currently shooting with a first look of the titular doll. Yup, it's happening.

"Let there be darkness."
Daredevil Season Three to debut October 19th. Enough said. https://imgur.com/vc9pvVm, https://imgur.com/pJMNWR1, https://imgur.com/1fd18cv, https://imgur.com/X2mWcUw

"Just one bad day."
This is Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, in the currently shooting Joker origin film being directed by Todd Phillips of the Hangover Trilogy and War Dogs fame. This is certainly out of left field for DC to greenlit so fast out of their dozens of upcoming projects, which would follow up Wonder Woman 1984 with October 4th 2019 release date. Have you seen the camera test footage and leaked set videos and pictures?
Warning, please proceed with caution if you do not want to be spoiled!

♫ Galaxy Defender. ♬♪
A behind-the-scene look of Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth as Agent M and Agent H respectively at the set for the upcoming Men in Black followup, directed by F. Gary Gray of Furious 8 and Straight Outta Compton fame. I enjoy the series of films but I know some people are soured by the last entry and the news of this film might not be to their liking but having this pair together again certainly helps in the movie's favour.

"Even the impossible."
Mary Poppins Returns' first official trailer:
After seeing Emily Blunt finally in action as the titular character, I believe they find a perfect actress to follow in Julie Andrew's steps with her own charms and vulnerabilities. Seeing the handrawn animations back again (the penguins!) makes me feel like we never left the magical world of imagination of Mary Poppins. https://imgur.com/NnPoQDv I love the original and I believe I would enjoy this followup as well.

Everyone deserves their own spotlight.
This might be the biggest news especially for the Marvel Cinematic Universe fans as there is a definite plan for a number of the MCU characters such as Loki and Scarlet Witch to have their own TV series for the upcoming Disney Play streaming service. YES! This would be its own entity by the way and it would be overseen by Kevin Feige himself. Please go to the link below for more info:

I hope for this to be just like the One-Shots and have a cohesive storyline of its own that would flesh out the side characters that couldn't fit in the movie schedule for their own solo films. Having these two in particular will be interesting since we still do not know the state of the MCU and their heroes (and villains) post-Avengers 4 but I think having the more fleshed out Loki leading the journey through Scarlet Witch's origin and power for example would be a sight to behold especially in the brown screen.

A handy throwback.
PlayStation Classic is announced for December 6th launch, "a miniature recreation of the original PlayStation, preloaded with 20 of the best titles from a game-changing era."
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/explore/playstation-classic/
"Relive the moments that changed gaming forever, with the iconic PlayStation Classic – featuring 20 of the best games from the original PlayStation console, including Final Fantasy VII, TEKKEN 3, R4: Ridge Racer Type 4, Jumping Flash!, Wild Arms and more to be announced."

"There's no law saying best friends have to have the same dream."
Disney releases Ralph Breaks the Internet's second trailer last Thursday whereby we see much more of the storyline of the two friends Ralph and Venelope venturing into the Internet for the very first time to save their arcade games yet again, while experiencing new things that might be too much for their friendship. Is there no central antagonist? Would they 'break' something accidentally and have to race the time to save it?

"It is time!"
The much rumoured project of Space Jam sequel starring LeBron James is finally taking a step forward with Ryan Coogler set to produce. Not to direct unfortunately but after Black Panther, I'm sure he got his hands full at the moment. Let me reiterate that there is a rumour indicating that it would be a spiritual followup rather than a straight up sequel, with only knowing winks to the first Michael Jordan-fronted flick rather than having him back to pass the baton for example. I'm psyched! How about you?

Oh, it might be coming out as late as 2020 since it's only scheduled to shoot next year, with him still actively playing at the moment.

A potential cut short.
Telltale Games closure. Yeah ... a combination of mismanagement and the industry itself, the studio is closing down out of nowhere really for the casual gamers.

I love their series especially Guardians of the Galaxy,Tales from the Borderlands and the Walking Dead among others and it is sad that we might won't even have the conclusion of the Clementine saga. Will THQ Nordic come to save the day? Noted that many of other developers have been giving support to those that have been laid off with positions on their own studios.

“People," Geralt turned his head, "like to invent monsters and monstrosities. Then they seem less monstrous themselves."
Henry Cavill is Geralt of Rivia, the main protagonist of the upcoming live action series adaptation of the Witcher. https://www.polygon.com/2018/9/4/17818520/witcher-geralt-henry-cavill-netflix-series
He might not be whom people would fancast as the gruff monster hunter but that's what makeups are for and having a Triple-A talent signed on to the project basically gives it more credence and prestige and would definitely attract more established actors to fill in the rest of the cast. Netflix is definitely taking steps to make itself a more prestigious platform in the same veins as HBO.
Are you looking forward for the Witcher series and is having Henry Cavill as the titular character makes it better or worse for you?

A change of direction
I just want to highlight the upcoming film by the Raid series director, Gareth Evans, Apostle, which will be released on Netflix on October 12th:
