as I'm being protected ...

under pressure - in the proximity - pulsating
pet peeves Monday 023 & misc list 097
Yeah, my blog is always this discombobulated. Anyway, the focus of the day is ... something close to my heart which is mosquito coil:

#061: unintended target
I have been accustomed to light a mosquito coil every night to kill the mosquitoes ever since I was a child and even though I am the only one member of the family that is still actively doing this until this very day, I can still list down a number of annoyances that I experience when I use it at home. First, the ideal trajectory of the fumes and smokes coming off the coil is straight up and dissipates away instead of right onto my face! There were times that with all the windows and doors fully closed already the trajectory were always inexplicably going to the sides and sometimes unintentionally to my direction. I can understand of the difference of air pressure that could be the reason behind this phenomenon but it was still annoying to have your nostrils and eyes a little bit irritated as a result.

#062: external factor
Having the coils all to myself, sometimes people around me would not be aware of why exactly I put them on in the first place. If you open the door and windows after I closed them and start to turn on the fans, why would I even bother burning the coil in the first place?! Full disclosure that I am always in the living room and understandably there would be people going through the place but it has become my safe haven for years now and it just annoy me to have to accommodate other people sometimes. It's a definite personal pet peeve.

#062: too much of a good thing
Not getting the immediate result of a Ridsect aerosol for example is not my priority but rather having the atmosphere being clouded with the fumes make me feel rather safe and being protected so to speak. It is the remains of the coils that could be a handful when the bowl holding it is in the way or on uneven surface for example. It is a bit of a guilty pleasure to accumulate all thee ashes in one big bowl even though I didn't even thought of disposing them or too long that my mother would do it for me. There were a couple of accidents whereby someone would accidentally kick the bowl and it would be scattered all over the place and it would be a chore to clean up. What I learn from this was to be more careful where I put the bowl rather than actually dispose of the ashes properly, just to indulge in my personal guilty pleasure just a little bit longer.
