I might not be able to do a lot of drawings but I try to churn this out as soon as possible, giving me more time to sketch during the downtime between the posts ...
2 Days 1 Night 10th anniversary
Whether or not the tragic death of one of the former members played a part in the show taking an uncharacteristic hiatus, I appreciate them doing a proper tribute to Kim Joo Hyuk to acknowledge his contribution to the show. He will be missed ... KBS (or at least the channel on local Astro) doesn't make clear whether or not they would continue to film every week just like before but I appreciate them showing the episodes that they have filmed prior to the tragic passing, celebrating the show's tenth anniversary in bizarre yet poignant ways, by going abroad to Uzbekistan and Cuba respectively. The members were separated into a group of three to cover both countries at the same time and while they didn't actually got the receptions they were expecting for, it turned out that their trips had deeper meanings behind them as they uncover the past history of Koreans who had migrated there and contributed to the society. While also experiencing the local culture in their own hilarious ways, they also would interact with the third generations of Korean Uzbekistans and the young fans of K-Pop phenomenon respectively. I can't wait to see what comes next in their last episode there!
the Killing of a Sacred Deer
This movie was brought to my attention because it was brought up in the Academy Awards conversation and whether or not it deserves a nomination in any of the categories, that's up to each interpretation although in my own perspective it's a novel viewing experience that would not be to everyone's likings. It may not be to the extent of mother! but Yorgos Lanthimos's distinct directorial style and the particular way the storyline develops is definitely unique and one-of-a-kind. If that's not clear from the opening scene, the distant, robotic cinematography and the constant awkward conversations made it a little more jarring and otherworldly experience. Whether it was intentional or not, it's certainly memorable!
WWE Mixed Challenge e001
The company doesn't have a good track record in dealing with their female talents but they have been taking a lot of steps in the right direction with the resurgence of the Women's Division which would culminate in the inaugural Women's Royal Rumble. With that being said, they still view the talents of the opposite sexes differently compared to each other although this new concept is their latest effort to overset those stigma from yesteryears. Even though they would fall short from letting them fight each other (even though the indie promotions are not shy from letting the male wrestler to fight the female wrestler one on one), it is still an interesting platform for the colourful WWE superstars to interact with each other across brand without being handicapped by the need to tell any proper kayfabe storyline. With the guise of fighting for their own charity organization, the fans are treated to unique pairings and even better encounter between the pairings as the nuances of each character clashes against one another, making the short but sweet match a treat for the fans both casual and diehard. I hope they would increase the level of participation of each wrestler and make them interact with opposite sex more ... maybe hopefully wrestle each other!
