pet peeves Monday 002 & misc list 005
I retroactively named the segment as so because I am inclined to agree with a certain orange striped cat and today's topic is on something more people could relate to, which is traffic, or more specifically from the viewpoint of a motorcyclist:
#001: blinking for safety
Let me start with something that everyone could relate to: active precaution to avoid accident on the road. One of the most effective safety tools already installed in almost all modern road transportation is the blinkers or light signals, being designed to grab the attention of other surrounding motorists of the direction the user is going in the immediate foreseeable future and warn them to be wary of the vehicle slowing down and steer clear of its intended route. I feel the need to spell out its intended purpose since I keep running into (figuratively) people that appeared to not even know the concept of blinkers even exist and it would be worst when they don't have the common courtesy to be mindful of their surroundings before turning, expecting others who actually value their lives to make our own efforts to not run into them literally and being blamed for it in the end! It would be once in a blue moon to meet someone on the road who is as a rare specimen as I am that actually use the signals that I will keep reminding myself to use them in every opportunity in hoping to influence the surrounding road users to do the same. It would be a cruel and ironic fate befall upon me if I somehow got into an accident the one time that I forgot to use my blinkers! I will keep on using it that it would be a habit that I will never forget in the future!
#002: pot holes
Ah, just seeing it in the picture gives me a painful butt flashbacks! Looking at it from the viewpoint of the car drivers, the aftereffects of running over some of these potholes would be lessen with the four suspensions compared to the only two (or four mini) motorcycle's suspensions, as the bumps would be especially hard on my body especially my butt or worst my tailbone when they came out of nowhere as I didn't notice the holes beforehand. Since I keep using the same road over and over again, I have just accepted my fate now and try to remember each road and memorize which part have the most and which part have the deepest and in turns 'lethal' and so far I more or less succeed as nine out of ten trips I survived the ordeal. There were a couple of times that these bumps caused the tire in contact to realign and since my basic bike uses spoked rims with air tubes inside of them, the air would came out or worst straight away punctured the tube inside of it, forcing me to steer slowly towards the nearest bike shop while rocking back and forth just like on that quarter ride! I know that as long as you are around developing areas, they would always be heavy lorries going over residential roads and the subsequent stress on the pavement causes them to break down hence the pot holes ... until every part is fully developed, I'm afraid this is a problem that we just have to live with for the moment. The patch work always make the roads worse anyway, most of them are not smoothed out and make them even more bumpier than before!
#003: headlights douchebags
I know I did this already before, go here for the full post.
