"Wait ... so how many of us are there?"

Trailer Review 058 & Movie Preview 009
 Spider-Man
Into the Spider-Verse
SONY Pictures
[December 14th, 2018]

Trailer Effectiveness = 85% for an intriguing teaser of a different Spidey iteration.
Chance of Success 75% with the rebounding popularity from Homecoming and a different Spider-Man for the first time in a major motion picture.

a case for one of the most recognizable Marvel superheroes and his many iterations:
+ Highlights +
The excellent debut orchestrated by Sam Raimi propelled Peter Parker to stardom and becoming a worldwide known superhero and spearheading the emergence of the comic-to-movie trend alongside Marvel, with his staying power over the years attributed to him being the most accessible one for being just an ordinary teenager imbued with superhuman abilities.
? Main contention ?
With Sony finally learning their lesson and giving the reigns back to Marvel to execute another reboot yet again although now in the MCU and in much capable hands, Homecoming is a definite proof of a successful partnership but the danger of history repeating itself is still there (despite at all time low now). It is safe to say that it is in the best position to succeed yet. Here's hoping!
- Lowlights -
Looking back to the first two modern adaptations, there were clear instances of studio meddling in the sequels that ultimately backfired spectacularly and turning all the good buzz acquired from the good movies into instant negativity i.e. Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 & Marc Webb's the Amazing Spider-Man 2, eerily similar with its abundance of villains and storylines intertwined together.

a case for the first animated feature for the 'second generation' boy of spider:
+ Highlights +
An effective teaser trailer showcasing the unique stylish visuals and the origin of Miles Morales, providing a platform for a 'new' version of Spider-Man with a separate animated universe that will allow them to adapt as freely or as faithful as they want to that will ultimately benefit the feature.
? Main contention ?
With the title being the representative question everyone would ask if you're not familiar with this version, it is a big foreshadowing of where they would go for the followup (if the reception permits it) or maybe even will be fully integrated into this storyline. The tombstone he visited and that guy in the Spider suit he was talking to alludes strongly which direction he could go.
~
The tone appeared to be dark contrasting with the flashy 3D visual effects ... it would be interesting how the final product would look since this short teaser couldn't represent whole film.
- Lowlights -
The combination between 3D and 2D animations could be jarring to the eyes of those not familiar with alternative animating techniques, just like stopmotion. If they are exposed to more in its longer version i.e. full trailer, their eyes would adjust to it soon enough.
