Podcast of the Day 005
SlashFilmCast
OFFICIAL PODCAST OF SLASHFILM.COM
As an avid consumer of pop culture as of now from all across the platform, I was really glad when I found this gem of a podcast, surprised by the amount of time they were giving (and still give) when reviewing the intellectual property of the day and how much of that time filled with a lot of intelligent insights and varied perspectives that have been encouraging me to do the same: viewing these movies and shows as more than just entertainment properties and peeling off the surface to see what story they are telling and how effective they are in doing so. Even though the release schedule a little more sporadic compared to my other choiced podcasts, it made the wait for the release that much more rewarding!
Podcast Dominant Traits =Intelligent and thorough review of popular IPs with ample time for them to discuss every aspect.
Chance of Mainstream Success =
Over 85% as the target demography's the biggest out here with worthwhile discussion to entertain them.
a case for the intelligent and thorough discussion of the genre:
+ Highlights +
In-depth intelligent discussion of films and shows that provide the deep dive pop culture fans would want while providing entertaining side topics that touches on the medium and genre and movie-watching experience in general i.e. SlashFilmCourt.
They just couldn't cover all the shows and films out there since they have their own main jobs outside of the podcast and in turns forcing them to focus on the more popular properties and sidelined the lesser-known ones ... nevertheless, I appreciate anything that I can get.
~
Oh, they do have popular guests ranging from those who work in the entertainment industry and even directors themselves! Although it is as sporadic as their schedule, it's a auditory treat when it happens!
- Lowlights -
The duration could be a deterrent for those seeking shorter duration of podcasts ...
~
Understandable for the listeners who just wanted to listen to the podcasts for the entertainment, the recent decision to talk about politics turned off some of them but it was affecting their lives in real way. Just respect their choices to be frank on the matter, skip the podcast if don't want to listen to it and don't take sides and throw shades, it's counterproductive to their purpose of bringing people together.
How diverse the cast of the podcasts is provide different and illuminating perspective to the topics that are being touched, giving us fresh knowledge of how they view the world in their own eyes rather than sticking to our own.

The opening segments are the more lighthearted part of the podcast which allow me to listen a bit more absentmindedly while the latter more in-depth analysis of reviews are roping me in to pay much more attention to what they are discussing because I want to see where their views are coming from and whether I would feel the same way if I'm in their shoes. Perfect for my long ride on my bike to the cinema!
