"I have to sing. It's not just *in* me ... It *is* me."

Trailer Review 054 & Movie Preview 004
COCO
Disney.Pixar
[22nd of November, 2017]
Trailer Effectiveness =
above 85% for a clear summary of the storyline with enough humour and intrigue to tease the viewers.

Chance of Success =
over 80% as to be expected from Pixar although the novel nature of the holiday is a determining factor.
a case for Dia de los Muertos:
+ Highlights +
+ a longstanding Mexican belief rich and infused with their colourful culture and strong sense of pride of Mexico, longing for a major animated feature to be a fitting representation to the world, the Book of Life notwithstanding.
? Main contention ?
Even though it is not as being celebrated as worldwide as many other major holidays, this particular turn indicates that Pixar and Disney is willing to go out of their comfort zone and try to adapt more diverse premises and in turns holiday, using their influence and stature in the industry to good use.
- Lowlights -
It is unfortunate that big studios would only go for tried and true formulas of going with established premises or worldwide holiday i.e. Halloween and mostly Christmas, with a small project such as the Book of Life's comparably much smaller success without major financial backing as a prime example of why it should it be avoided even though it is the only modern iteration of the Holiday to date until Coco.

a case for the giant 'mousy' empire:

+ Highlights +
Their mostly flawless track record is simply because it is a director-focused studio instead of the other way around, letting each director making a movie of their own around a premise that is close to their heart i.e. Inside Out is around his daughter and her own thoughts and now Coco is around his own rich culture, hence filling it naturally with heart and making them relatable without trying to manufacture anything artificial.
? Main contention ?
The medium is always evolving and with Disney and Pixar is leading the way with the highest end quality animations out there, there could only go up after this ? now moving right on forward with their live-action reinterpretations of their most popular classics and Dumbo is filming and the Lion King is being animated, what other trend would be popular next that Disney would adapt next?
- Lowlights -
even they could not escape the allure of a cash grab in Cars 2 - it is unfortunate that they have stop making 2D animations after the Princess and the Frog but since the cost and time didn't bring with it sufficient earnings to the studio's liking, it is the most cost-efficient decision in the end. Here's hoping for a much look forward return in the future, hopefully sooner rather than later ...

a case for the whimsical trailer:
+ Highlights +
Lush colours with the Mexican particular style and culture being faithfully and excellently represented + The theme of family is again at the forefront as it is both relatable essentially and unique in his own magical world + Casting of all pronounced Mexican actors and voiceover actors is in line with their delicate approach to the premise, just like before in Moana + Aside from the visual reinterpretation, the theme of music is also palpable in the storyline which in turns means much more screen time would be given to flaunt the signature music of the country and the citizens.
? Main contention ?
With the Book of Life revolves around a matador and Dia de los Muertos as well, Coco's focus around a singer would at least give fresh perspective on their culture although comparisons would be made on how both movies bring the Land of the Dead to life, pardon the pun.
- Lowlights -
There is inexplicably a vocal few negative feedback on how much this resembles the Book of Life, even though there are dozens of other holiday and Christmas movies out there already, showing just how much they are exposed to other people's culture.
