"Hola, soy Dora!"

Movie News 005 & Movie Preview 009
Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes to Produce Live Action Dora the Explorer
Dora the Explorer
Paramount
[2019?]

Project Viability =
above 70% with its popularity and exploration possibility going around the world.
Chance of Success =
below 70% with the change of premise of an established property
and the risk of adaptation.

a case for the celebrated educational bilingual show:

+ Positive +
An educational kids program with quasi-interactive for audiences to take part in solving the puzzles and riddles while following the adventure of an American Latina, Dora, with her monkey, Boots, being a much needed positive representation of diversity in today's climate while educating the young minds. Spanish being at the same level as English is a poignant emphasize on being bilingual.
? Main contention ?
Despite being a profitable property for Nickelodeon with a plethora of games and merchandises, it is  still uncertain how much of that fans would translate into the motion picture when it is out eventually.
- Negative -
Skeptic minds would view this as a cash-in on a successful property ... this is a business after all.

a case for the quite a departure for the live action adaptation:
+ Positive +
It would at least be a fresh perspective on an established property and would be more relatable to broader demography of audiences, entertaining the kids who watch the show as well as the adults accompanying them. If it's a success, more people would tune into the original series and giving more positive spotlight on more racially diverse representation in the pop culture. That's definitely a plus!
? Main contention ?
The family and children-friendly format of the show is catered to be watched in a particular manner and with that signature traits in mind, how much of that will be effectively transferred from one medium to another while still remaining true to the show? Since audience interaction for example was encouraged in the small screen, will that be inexplicably kept or maybe just have a knowing nod?
~
Being tangentially related to Michael Bay could bring with it a certain connotation and specifically his constant objectification of women in his Transformers films, which doesn't bode well for this female-led premise at first impression but it is purely his own production company that he created in the wake of his successful franchise that would handle the project and he himself would be hands-off, that at least ease our mind a bit although there is still trepidation on how she would be portrayed with the change of age and premise. After watching the Muppets, Nick Stoller is the man to handle it.
- Negative -
Since it caters to the youngest demography as its main objective is education rather than focusing more on Dora's quest with Boots around the world, the unfortunate but needed alteration to have an entertaining and intriguing storyline to be told in a full feature despite having to sacrifice some essence of the original series. Whether they can find that perfect balance or not, it's still up in the air.
