Split personality is a unique condition that was recently effectively being portrayed in M. Night Shyamalan's Split, giving the studio a proven credence to go through with this project and with FX's Legion in the small screen showing there's an audience for a superhero mind trip, it is poised for a successful project now than ever.
? Main contention ?
With current trend of superhero movies being the hottest trend studios is following today, the blend of genres that used to lead the industry in western and ninja with less represented Norse mythology will probably help each other in a wonderful marriage with each element complement each other.

Being unfamiliar with the comic series, these three different personalities with different abilities and principles will present an interesting dynamic whether it will all be in the protagonist's mind or will be played in real life.

Under a more inexperienced and unskilled hand, this could be seen as a gross cash-in of popular genres being mixed together into an incoherent mess with gratuitous violence. Not to mentioned the misuse and abuse of a real mental condition without properly portraying it and treat it with respect.

Being loved in Parks and Recreation for his sense of humour and endless charm, Chris Pratt is being given the opportunity of a lifetime to lead a major studio film in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy and he succeeded tremendously and kickstart his career to a whole new level.

With his comic timings and addictive personality, he is certainly capable in portraying all of these differing personalities believably at the same time and bounce from one to another.
? Main contention ?
It might be early but he needs to fight from being typecasted for the sake of his future despite his comparatively short time in the silver screen industry, in fear of stuck in the rut.

With differing abilities and personalities, Chris needs to convincingly portray each of them ... while he was a convincing Cowboy in the Magnificent Seven, the remaining two are still up in the air.

Inaccuracy of representation of these three icons in the medium can be misleading (and racist) if compared to the real life counterpart... if it would continue or not here, that's still remained to be seen.

The Hollywood standard for the leading actors can be quite strict and monopolized and while they can be more inclusive in the future compared to the status quo as of now, they at least have move on from using heavy-set actors to make fun of their weights with slapstick and crude humour ... or at least limit them.

The comics revolve around a group of patients diagnosed with Multiple Personality Disorder who are recruited into a counter-intelligence unit. Designated as Triplets, owing to the three personalities trapped within their minds, these expertly trained and highly skilled agents turn into mercenary assassins once the program crumbles. Duncan, the title character and Pratt’s role, tracks down these rogue agents.

a case for the surprised franchise starter:

2014's surprise hit bring about the renaissance of Keanu Reeves as a bona-fide action lead after so many years. This is the result of the partnership of the two directors with extensive background of stunt works with a dedicated actor that have trained tirelessly in martial arts, hand to hand combat and 'gun-fu', providing realistic and relentless action sequences from start to finish.
? Main contention ?
The character John Wick is said to conclude his adventure in the third film while the established universe will have further adventures of other hitmen in the world just like this spin-off.
- Lowlights -
The admittedly simple storyline (and borderline unrealistic) was the only thing that could be considered as the one shortcoming of the franchise that's now moving onto conclude the John Wick trilogy, even though the unparalled action speaks louder than words ... that's just what is needed here.

With strong women presence already in the previous films, it is not farfetched to see the next chapter being led by female hitman.

With the established Universe around the profession and the Continental created to be a valid world around it with a working economy and establishment all around the world, the possibility of intriguing and working premise is endless.
? Main contention ?
Since we've only follow one hitman being the best in the business applying his expertise on some lowly mafia crews and then fellow hitmen in the sequel, seeing another hitman with different level of abilities and moonlighting in another profession as a sidejob or cover would be a fresh perspective in this linear narrative.

They could play with where this premise will take place, before, during or after the events in the John Wick 'trilogy', fleshing out the universe even more.

The inevitable comparison between this spin-off with the original whether justified or not will come ... please watch it first and then judge it for yourself.
