Keep calm and stay alive.

Langkawi bound.
Here it is, my three days two night vacation to Langkawi with my mother and my second and third brother's family. I thought at first it was until Sunday but it turned out a day short and my wish to do all sorts of things on the island had been cut short but I understand since we had a limited time and we had to cater to the other members and what they want to do there. Suffice to say they were attracted to the duty-free aspect of this vacation.
Arriving there in the afternoon after a long car ride from Selangor and crossing two states and getting on the ferry, we had a nice late lunch besides the beach and then actually spent quite a lovely time playing in the swimming pool with everyone in the water. This was the first time actually so that's a memory to savor. We did travel a lot in the rented van going places to places and we spent most of it looking for places to have dinner at but that's part of the journey, right?
Having one full day to spent, we went early to Crododile Adventureland and I didn't know what to expect really since I assume it would be just crocodiles and I had to give up the Geopark and the flying fox for it, but I was actually positively surprised by what was waiting for me. Paying extra for the tour guide was worth the price of admission since we were actually being guided to go through the park and gained some knowledge and insight rather than wandering aimlessly by ourselves. Most memorable moments are getting to fish the small crocodiles, and actually holding an actual live one in my hand! I know they are cold-blooded animals but feeling its cold body on your warm skin yourself is an experience in and of itself, from the soft belly and still developing scales. Even my niece is not afraid!
Then we saw the biggest crocodile in captivity and then an educational show with a couple of trainers and three crocodiles with varying ages and sizes. I've seen this on television but seeing it with my own eyes was something else as you can really register their larger-than-life sizes and the constant danger these humans in the cage were. They treated the animals with utmost respect and they responded accordingly by being calm while being handled from the small to the biggest. We could see the belly of the former while the latter was being kissed on the snout and let a hand being put in its mouth. That's neat! While we saw the small crocs jumps for food earlier, it was something else when you see the full grown adults actually launch into the air to grab the food while fending off others who were similarly hungry. The tension in waiting for them to take the bait and the payoff of seeing them out of the calm water to cause a split-second of chaos is a wonderful rollercoaster ride to get on.
We then saw a couple of deformed adults, one without full tail and another with bent body, to educate us that not all of them would hatched perfectly and I'm glad they were taking care of them since they won't survive in the wild at all. That's about it for the crocodile sanctuary and the Underwater World was next.
This is more or less the same but it was my first time seeing seal and penguins up close, seeing the former actually sleeping while floating in the water was a delight and seeing the latter swimming underwater while we were in that tunnel just made it worthwhile for me. All the other creatures were always a wonder to see floating about from the corals to the octopus and the jellyfishes and the small bird park was an added bonus to me. I didn't go on the natural disaster simulation but let me know if you did. That's it!
It's a shame that we couldn't spend more time there to go and visit all the places there but this just strengthen my resolve to go back there and had a real go at it. Next time!
