"Gotta catch'em all!"

POPs of the day 042
predictions and wishes for possible upcoming Pokémon Funko POPs
We might be a little too optimistic of the future of a possible Pocket Monsters line since it is not confirmed yet between Funko and the company ... until then though, let's list down their possible releases with the help of Nerd Therapy:
Regular
I do not have any particular Pokémon that is my favourite (if I play the game again, maybe one would strike my fancy ...) and I think since they have the numerical list that they could follow as a steady schedule of constant releases, they might have done just that but since I don't think it would be profitable to them, I believe they might tailor their waves according to their anime series and which characters are more popular than others. With that being said, they should cover the original 365 Pokémons first before venturing out to the second generation and the next. Oh, I almost forgot that they might release Pokémons with different sizes that's appropriate to how they are in the games and the anime, with Snorlax and Onix a couple of prime suspects to be adapted first.

Exclusive @ Limited Edition

They might release the main Pokémons in Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle and possibly a three pack for them with all of their evolutionary phases. Don't get me started on the Mega Evolutions and the Aurora varieties ... Speaking of which, Ash, Brock and Misty should have their own two pack release with their own respective Pokémon in Pikachu, Geodude and Misty respectively. Another joint release that would be sought after especially by the series' diehard fans is the classic Team Rocket with Jesse, James and Meowth in their signature poses, in their own three pack! If they want to highlight certain Pokémons that may not be as popular, they should give them a dose of POP variant flair in flocked, translucent, glow in the dark and even scented! Almost all of them have furs, the physic ones are more than most ghoul-based as well as glowing in the dark to add to the creepy factor while rafflesia-based Vileplume and pitcher plant-based Victreebel would make sense with their own flora scents. Their own movie or franchise moments or fittingly Poké Moments could be based on iconic scenes in the series or their full features such as Ash getting his head munched by a Magikarp or the first time he met Mew or even Mewtwo! Actually, the more subdued version they could make is make the Pokémon sitting still for their regular release while making them in action poses for exclusives for stores since it is a prominent Funko business practice. 8-bit version of their POPs are mostly more misses than hits with just a select few could fully take advantage of this change of style or even make sense in the first place! Nevertheless, it would be really appropriate for them to pay tribute to their origin of first appearance in Gameboy 1996 years ago.

Chase
Well, they could really monetize the heck out of this partnership and one of the ways is just based their approach to what Niantic(?) has done for their original card collection craze back in the days and release a shiny version of their Pokémons. Since I really despise their recent 'Diamond' releases of already in the market products with just superfluous cosmetic beautification, I sincerely wish that they would choose those that aren't released yet to be subjected in that way. Don't be so transparent, Funko! Oh, it would extra special if they include Funko-fied card outline at the back of the back. Even better, maybe include its own card in the box itself! Speaking of which, I still remember every time that "who's that Pokémon?" came up just before the commercials and I would mostly guessed right (I once used that phrase when there was someone I didn't know came to greet our sekolah rendah hockey team ... suffice to say, my teammates were laughing, but not sure with me or to me). Another practice that I can't get behind is having the Mystery Minis business model in which you had to gamble every time you buy one since you can't see which one is inside. Having its own Mystery Box would make sense to pay tribute to that one part of their anime series but I want to implore them to minimize the risk of their customers buying something they already have, by exclusively have the shiny version instead of the normal ones. At least when they do buy something they already have, they would be treated with a more rare Shiny version. Win-win, right? If not, just include those who haven't been covered in their normal waves, the more obscure Pokémons like Jinx and Polygon for example.

Misc

With the recent news of Funko collaborating with Gears of War to make their own mobile game, they might have a plan to do the same with xyz down the line ... just remember that this is all a speculation as Pikachu is an exception but it is of course a sign that it will come, eventually. Patience is virtue, my fellow Funko fanatics.
