Wardrobe Wednesday 021
Guardians of the Galaxy's Drax
< MARVEL >
It's going to be on time, for once! I think I'll try to keep to this daily format for now since it was meant for that anyway but let's see where the week would bring us. With all that being said, I want to do something out of the norm and actually put a spotlight on a clothing that is actually brand new for once! Granted I wait for the price to drop a bit first of course since I always look for a bargain or at least a deal.
The reason I rarely buy pop culture merchandises fresh off the shelves because of the exorbitant price put upon them to cash in as much as they can on the popularity of the IPs they focus on. I know that that's just the whole purpose of this whole industry I just can't justify putting out a huge amount of money just to buy a piece of memorabilia especially considering I do not have a disposable income to spare as of now. With that being said, my undying love for all things pop culture could justify buying them if I could buy them through bundles or with a significantly or at least a slightly reduced price tag that is in the realm of acceptable to me, This is always my principle whenever I go out and it applied to this particular situation whereby I came across this beautifully designed Drax T-shirt, as it should be since he has his own signature red body tattoos and green skin that actually translate perfectly into the shirt. I do remember that I actually tried it on before I bought it since I haven't spend that much amount of money in a while but now it's a bit tight on the shoulders as it keeps riding up when I am walking, but that's just a minor gripe that I somehow overlook as I could be proudly wearing it and people would instantly recognizes it!
As I learn from buying all that uniqlo products (and newera caps tangentially), you pay for the quality you want and that applies to this Marvel product as well, further validating my efforts to look for the (properly) branded products every time I go bundle-browsing or just window-shopping. The cotton is of premium quality compared to what I have felt on my hands before and it felt the best yet enveloping my body. The shade of green they went to represent Drax is perfect since it contrasts wonderfully with the shade of dark red they went with, putting you in his shoes (or skin ...?) when you put on the shirt, quite snugly I might add. I would never have the physicality of Dave Bautista that played the titular character from the recently popular Guardians of the Galaxy but having that admittedly cool tattoo designs all over me does invoke a certain heroic feel in myself. That Guardian emblem is the icing on the cake for me especially with it being made with a 'risen design' while the cherry on top is the bedazzled name at the back. Even though sparkly thing is never my thing but I can appreciate it if used fittingly and its usage here definitely fits the bill. All in all, I am fully satisfied with my purchase of a brand new product.
Oh, I want to mention the red lining under the collar inside of the shirt and the red strings on the outside! Really on theme and striking!

a case for the muscle of the team:
+ Positives +
simple and sleek design with perfect representation of the character.
? Main contention ?
if only the rest of the Guardians would translate as seamlessly as Drax into a shirt design ... I saw the Groot one and that would be the next one on my list!
- Negatives -
it might be viewed as a tad bit too flashy for some ... but I know this would always be my defacto wardrobe choice every time I go out to watch Marvel movies!
RM
Above RM 65 if I remember correctly, but it was cut down from just around RM 100 of its original price tag, and this is a cut I am willing to accept.
? Value ?
+ simple, sleek design with perfect adaptation + perfect contrast - slight snug and short in the shoulders department + perfect representation and perfect Marvel merchandise +/- that sparkles though ... = 90%.
