a cultured individual, in a matter of speaking

guilty pleasures Tuesday 011 & misc list 049
Guilty Pleasure Traits =
+ a part and parcel of current life - a waste of time + broad, broad umbrella + a source of entertainment that is shared worldwide = High
I was wondering what to put into this segment as the criteria I found to be harder and harder as times go by but I can see how this particular entry could be viewed as a guilty pleasure for those deep within it as well as from those viewing from the outside in.

The topic in question today is pop culture or more specifically the constant daily pursuit of pop culture news and discussion around every topic under the umbrella. With the recent spearheading by Marvel with its Marvel Cinematic Universe across the film and television industries, I was swept in the wave from its inception which made me pay more attention to the surroundings as well, as I begin to learn the ins and out and the individuals in front of the cameras and behind the scenes. I now know how the industry works from the first time the project starts to gain speed and the production on and off location and finally the premiere in the silver screen, which makes me appreciate a lot more the whole process and the people needed to make them. With the news ranging from every entertainment spectrum, I need someone with knowledge of the industry to discuss the topics at hand which is why I kept tuning into (then-amc and now) Collider Movie Talk to see educated discussions and learn much more insights that I might not see from my point of view.

A definite waste of time in the grand scheme of things but it keeps me entertain every day and I believe there are people coming here to see just what I would cover (it's been awhile but I'm getting back into it) daily. It's what has been keeping me going for my blog and it is what has been my focus for my Funko POP! endeavours. I am hoping to find someone that could talk as passionate on pop culture as I am soon ...

If you have any question, please do not hesitate to ask me.

Chance of Hitting Mainstream =  90% since the popularity keeps on surging up and being geeky of it is not being looked down anymore.

a case for love of pop culture:

it's a growing love that have support from the consumers while spearheading the industry.
? Main contention ?
may not be tempting for those that are unfamiliar and not as invested in them ...
- Lowlights -
die hard fans can be toxic to everyone else when a vocal few of them begin treating others that have different opinions negatively.

I love that so many properties are being adapted year after year, making those who aren't familiar with the source materials to delve into them!

Hm ... let me list a few places I frequented for my news and discussion:

+ Such an entertaining and educational watch of panels after panels discussing everyday news from the industry, as broad and specific as they want to. ? the recent change of guard affect how the trajectory of Collider as a whole for better or for worse but I will be there every step of the way. - there are detractors of said changes who couldn't accept that some of these decisions are not by the guys in front of the cameras but instead from those who are behind them. the keep going down the memory lane without taking into account why these changes are made in the first place ...

+ simple and straightforward article and news compilations. ? the moderators and staff have looser quality standard procedures ... - ... and a number of the posts fall below line and the engaged visitors would let their voices heard.

+ cleanest site for me to get my news? ... - the staff's inclination to include their personal opinions on each matter that would unfortunately most often than not overshadow the topic of the posts but sometimes the comments section fall on opposite ends of the spectrum from kind, uninterested to downright trolls.

Well, that's all folks! Thank you for your time and please do come back for my future posts! :-)
