for your water

store - turn - even
Tips, see Thursday 001 & misc list 010
I was trying to be smart with the title ... overlooking that poor attempt, here is my attempt to make up for the lack of wardrobe and food posts these couple of weeks, with some tips on water or specifically drinks (non-alcoholic mind you):
#001: be mindful of storage
People always say that the container you are keeping your liquid in matters a lot in maintaining its quality whether concerning its taste or its longevity. I believe this to be true as well as the environmental factors such as the storage and the temperature, and the duration it is kept within also matters in reserving the original flavour. Please do keep your liquids in quality, durable containers rather than flimsy, disposable ones since the latter would not last long under much harsher conditions such as under bright sun rays and the accompanying high temperatures that it would dissolve the inner layer of the plastic and affect the quality of the water. If you've left one in the back seat of your car for too long and later found it to not only taste different than before you left it there but even have some foreign substances floating in it, you could have make an educated guess that it has been contaminated and would not be safe to drink from. Regarding the storage, please keep it in open air space if you want it at a room temperature rather than a closed cabinet for example since it would be affected as well. I don't think that keeping a boiled water in a closed container would be beneficial for its long term quality, since I always air it out to let the heat dissipates away. You should however close it if you're refrigerated it in the fridge for example since anything else in there would affect liquid that is not closed off and left exposed or open without protection in there. This is a long one but I'm sure you can relate since I based them on my real life experience.

#002: be mindful of source
As much as how you keep your liquid is affecting its quality, the biggest factor is actually where the water comes from. In Malaysia, every household would get clean source of water from the tap but unlike those in US whereby you can straight away drink directly from it, we have to boil them first (at least in my home) before you can safely drink it, or use a secondary water filter to do the work for you. If you've never smell anything from the plain water, then that's normal. Since it is the only source of water in your life, any change in its quality whether the colour, the consistency or even the smell should alert you immediately that it is not safe to consume anymore. Do not take it for granted since you always get it without any problem in between because when it is gone (just like how the Klang Valley citizen are temporarily now), you will miss the days of aforementioned normalcy.

#003: 50% hot, 50% room
I would be much appreciative if you've ever listen to my podcasts (that I intend to continue anytime soon but just couldn't find proper equipment ... maybe I should just do it with I have right now, just like before!) since this third tip should be familiar to half a dozen of you, hopefully. I am quite fond of making my own hot drinks but just do not like to wait for it to cool down which is why I want to share a certain tip that would cut that wait right away! If you can guess from the title (or remember from said podcast), you should use half boiling water and half room temperature water to have an ideally warm drinks that is ready to be sip without any worry of burning your tongue! You should play with the ratio to suit your personal preferences, whether you want the heat to remain longer or you want it closer to the room temperature. It works wonders for me!
