Trailer Review 038 | Gifted | Life |

Life
(SONY Pictures) [052617]
Trailer Effectiveness =  80%
Chance of Success =  85%

The near future possibility of finding another lifeform was finally achieved in the film but the curiosity kills the cat as that sole Martian specimen begins to affect the crews in more ways than one as it triggers their downfall.

+ Highlights +
the still pristine Space Station, the sleeping pods and the all around happy crews would foreshadow what would become of them later in the movie
the never not impressive lack of gravity shots which would be prevalent throughout and will be used as plot points down the line
the major storyline of discovering a single cell organism and its seemingly deadly implication is simple in concept but the execution in the trailer is perfect without actually showing the effect of the alien on the crews and leaving you to your own imagination
how they unravel slowly from the shock of the first attack to being wary of their surrounding as the station itself is seemingly breaking apart to downright isolate another crew as distrust grows between them
? Points of contention ?
the obligatory voiceover that's seemed overdone now because of the current focus of interplanetary venture
their capabilities as effective crews on board shown in handling the debris scene which would surely be undermined by the event
is flamethrower really viable in confine space of the space station?
how much the Martian specimen is affecting the crew is still remains to be seen
- Lowlights -

What is ad nauseam means?

Trailer Effectiveness =  80%
Chance of Success =  80%

A family drama trope with the twist of a genius child being fight over in order to decide her path down the line, between living as a normal girl in a decent neighborhood or using her intellect in a more confined but conducive environment but sacrificing her social life.

+ Highlights +
the natural relationship between the girl and the uncle, the initial finding of her brilliance, the tense and emotional legal custody,
the ominous yet perfect soundtrack.
? Points of contention ?
is the genre of family drama too overdone and saturated now?
- Lowlights -
could be viewed as another run-of-the-mill family drama movie if the protege aspect was disregarded
