a show of human decency

in an encounter between man and nature

What?

a stranger saved a baby horse (foal or filly) off the road back into the wilderness

Who?

a good unknown Samaritan

How?

seeing a baby horse wandering by itself on wrong side of the fence, the people in the car stopped and carefully took their time to approach it. By not spooking it too much, the one guy's approach scared both the mother and its baby but he saw it through, with his rather understandably clumsy attempt of holding it up by first the stomach and then a more stable hold across the body allowed him to adjust and had a firmer hold as he gingerly got the legs over the steel road guard rail and finally putting it down gently as it run back safely to its mother.

Why?

maybe knowing our place in this world, adjusting the world to feed our needs and affecting the inhabitants in it, he just wanted to do the right thing to keep it safe from harm's way.

Then?

taking a few minutes off of your time for the safety of other creatures would never be a waste

So?

be mindful of others, especially if they're not of your own species!

Lesson Learned:

"A friend in need is a friend indeed."

That's a saying from my Standard Six class ... it fits here, right?
