News 005 wrestling comedy show by the Rock and former WWE writer

Wrestling show by Dwayne 'the Rock' Johnson
in development
Chance of Success =  70%

What?
A comedy based on the real life experiences Johnson himself when he first started out and the former head writer, Brian Gewirtz, that was responsible in creating the storyline the wrestlers of WWE (then-WWF) week after week. The involvement of Will Ferrell's own production would be intriguing to see if it would be successful.

+ Positive: basing it on the real life experience would make it feel authentic, the insider look behind the scenes of this multi-million industry
? Main contention: the public breaking of 'kayfabe' and possibly portraying both the good and the bad of this particular industry
- Negative: further derision by the non-wrestling fans

"This November will mark the 20th anniversary of my professional wrestling debut. I was 24 years old, putting in the hard work, making $40 bucks per match and had no clue of the long journey that lay ahead of me with characters and backstage stories so colorful you’d think there’s no way that can be true. The entertaining show that goes on in front of the crowd pales in comparison to the insanely entertaining show that goes on backstage. Brian and myself can’t wait to tell our stories."
~ Dwayne Johnson ~

Who?
The former wrestler and the former writer would collaborate on creating a series based on their own career and might be led by two upcoming actors playing the wrestler and the writer.

+ Positive: a never before seen comedy duo on a television show and the endless possibility of the combination of action and comedy from wrestling in and off the ring, the production's experience behind a professional sport [i.e. Ballers]
? Main contention: how much WWE would get involve in this production and the fictional wrestling outfit, if they would involved real life wrestlers with little acting capabilities
- Negative: awkward might be played a bit too much now, the possibility of playing too much  to the stereotypes

The series offers a behind-the-scenes look at a fictional professional wrestling outfit and chronicles the one-of-a-kind odd couple relationship that develops between a charismatic young character, like the The Rock, and a painfully awkward comedy writer new to the world of wrestling. A fish-out-of-water among all of these alpha males, this beta former sitcom writer needs as much help as he can get navigating the extremely passionate, sometimes crazy and always unpredictable world of professional wrestling.
