Opening with an ominous shot of two ships approaching an island with jagged rocks around massive mountains scraping the skies with the leading ship entering the opening at the bottom of the mountain in the middle, going inside a (un)natural cave.

[00.17]
Playing in the same timeline as the last four movie, the British sailors on board were awed with natural wonder of the cave's surface as well as then the thick fog surrounding them, with the light source outlining something more supernatural just above the surface.

[00.25]
Fast cuts were used to accompany the surprise forced boarding by pirates quickly approaching off the water and got on board to everyone's surprise. Being scared to death with their sudden predicament, their lack of initiative to fight back cost them their lives as they were ambushed from the dark and overwhelmed just like that.

[00.34]
Landing with a heft, the camera focused on a certain pirate whom looked normal from behind except for the hair moving in the air as if they were in the water. The background music started to swell as he started to move across the ship while letting the duels between the two opposition took place, as he himself swiftly killed one with a slash of his sword.

[00.42]
Another one caught in his deadly sight and thrown into the fire as a closer shot showing how decorated he is (or more likely was in his past life) as he staggered towards a young man behind bars down in the hull, showing that the condition of his body wasn't going to hold him back from meeting him.

[00.55]
The music crescendoed to a halt as a wanted poster was plucked up on the tip of the man's sword, revealing the main character of this anthology at the center of it as he finally spoke on "Jack Sparrow." Confronting the kid on his knowledge on the captain after seemingly effortlessly walking through the steel gates while still focusing on the paper.

[01.05]

Upon closer inspection by the shocked young man, the state of the boarders or the lack thereof were staggering with the crews magically still standing despite the loss of limbs and severity of their injuries. The now visible man urged him to find Sparrow for him and relay a message from him, Capitan Salazar, that he is coming for him with the quick change of tone from charming to menace to pleading showcased his unstable personality and the actor's versatility.

[01.26]

The haunting voice of a little girl is used as another background music foreshadowing the possible angle the storyline could go with and the reveal of the skeleton could be representing Captain Jack Sparrow himself with the face(skeleton)paint and the trademark headpiece and goatee.

Cast

- Synopsis -

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.

(Director Joachim Rønning & Espen Sandberg [Kon-Tiki], Budget $320 millions, Genre Action, Adventure, Comedy, Jack Sparrow Universe, Pirate)

+ Highlights: the absent of the main titular character while focusing on the more haunting tone of this latest iteration (considering his current unfortunate private life), the showcase of the enemies' power, the wonderful CG enemies and especially the captain, charismatic main villain
- Lowlights: the use of a scene to promote a movie although it's perfectly used here, the CGI could deter some who still cannot get used to it
