Why?

An actress trying to pay the utmost respect and fitting tribute to a real life person she was portraying wonderfully in the series and got a deserved recognition for it.

Then?

Being close to her and trying to learn about her particular predicament and public spotlight being involved in such a publicized trial, she knows just how much she had to suffer just because of her gender.

So?

As the series has surprisingly try to recount the particular trial as authentic as possible, the resulting publicity surrounding it and eventual praises going in its direction is being used thoughtfully by Sarah Paulson to praise the real woman behind her when she received the award. Although every winner would the statue with his or her name on it along with the character he or she played, she tried to give the woman she knows dearly a small but memorable moment of seeing both their names being engraved first hand, a small but sweet parting gesture from a friend to another to remember their journey together by.

Lesson Learned:
