Agents of Shield s04e02 Meet the New Boss
{abc} (Marvel) [2016->] 80%

the Literal Ghost
A terrifying encounter between the family and the frazzled woman, as the kid and the father had a supernatural being invaded their house while the woman went back to her place just to find out it wasn't hers anymore since she was trapped years in the cube. That particular cube seized by SHIELD was examined to have technology that was never seen before, seeing the same pattern in the effects of the apparitions of the 'ghosts' that were revealed to be the victims of an experiment gone wrong, which could be orchestrated by a traitorous colleague of them and even the main woman's fascination with the book Darkholde. Their eventual plan to blow up the reactor was fortunately cut short by Mack and Fitz and in the nick of time the Ghost Rider himself as the remaining victims were on their way to find that particular book and 'him' that was mentioned as the one that made them this way.

the Ghost in Hiding
Trying to genuinely lead a normal life and support his younger brother by being a mechanic, the always persistent Daisy did her homework on him and tried to get close to him by ingeniously playing the damsel in distress in needs of Reyes' expertise at least in the automobile aspect, while trying to get into his head and his true intentions behind his recent violent conducts. Although they appeared to be conversing amicably on the subject, the tension between them inevitably blew up into a rather one-sided fight resulting with her tied down and interrogated of her suicidal tendency and findings. They got to the place just in time to save her former teammates but him killing one of the ghosts and as the Ghost Rider went his way, Daisy boarded the ship to be treated of her injury but the reveal of secret rendezvous with Yo Yo shocked Mack to the core and further incensed Fitz for turning her back on the team in the first place.

Ghost of his Past
Phil Coulson tried to get along with the new establishment with the new director at the helm after his mutual demotion to the dismay of May. The new charismatic and slick politician as his replacement did a tremendous job to balance the immense task to put the organization in the correct lane to being relaunched to the public (after the Winter Soldier revelation and the recent Sokovia Accords) with actually managing the agents specifically under him, surprisingly giving credits where it's due while also putting his foot down to ensure everything didn't affect his plan in a negative way. Doing his best to ensure a smooth operation since he knew what it took to run one himself, Coulson played along as a tour guide for the officials from the government but it got cut short when the 'infected' May finally succumbed to the effect and living up to her nickname 'the Cavalry' perfectly but she was no match with the Director revealed to be an Inhuman as well, subduing her single-handedly without so much a scratch.

"A team that trusts is a team that triumphs."

+ Highlights +
the scary haunting opening, the beautiful mural, a ghost sighting, the propaganda poster, friendly mechanic Reyes when he wants to, the ingenious plan to be a customer in Reyes' shop, the physicality of the ghosts and their abilities to go in and out of 'dimension,' the Director played to Phil's geeky passion for SHIELD, another great albeit short duel showcasing both superpowered individuals, the top-notch CG Quinjet on the air,  the stunt on top of the car, Shotgun Axe(!), the martial prowess of May played by the always excellent Ming Na Wen, the surprise reveal of the Inhuman Director, the awesome visual of the Flaming Skull and the burn to ashes of his victim, the emotional interchange between the former teammates

? Points of contention ?
the bleeding black ooze could be hinting to other dimension's effect on the eyes of the beholder, the rather technological nature of the cube and the way the apparitions came to be, the tattered clothes and blood showed how the experiments went for them, Daisy's suicidal tendency would lead her down more darker road, the little conversation between May and her right woman foreshadowing something down the line, she finding a common ground with Reyes on dealing with the baddies

- Lowlights -
