Picture Review 006 Logan (SPOILER ALERT!)

Logan
(20th Century Fox)
Lashing out March 03, 2017

These couple of set photos showed the titular character and his once mentor appropriately being affected by time, the latter could lose control of his power and being a giant ticking mental bomb with the former probably trying to cater to him and bring him somewhere safe or somewhere where he could be treated with himself inexplicably appeared to be aging despite his regenerative ability that might be affected in this iteration. The second picture was the continuation of the scene they were shooting with one inclusion of a young girl (Sienna Novikov) that has reportedly confirmed to be X-23, another mutant tied closely to Logan's power and its inception with similar abilities in the comics (with different sets of claws) and could be highly linked to his main storyline in the movie.

To further solidify her role beside him, the first teaser poster for the film with the name was framing the hand of Wolverine or in this instance, Logan, with the hand of a child holding onto him. The contrast of the sizes showed the difference in age with the now confirmed girl holding tightly to his rather reluctant palm. Logan was his name as a soldier before being forced to undergo the experiment that made him the way he is now and using it as the main title indicates that he could be going back to his origin and finding what he is looking for in his past to finally move past it completely. Considering the state of Logan's hand particularly compared to the girl's, the cuts and bruises on his hand with the visible red of blood is showing his determination to keep the child safe by putting his body on the line although his trademark regenerative ability doesn't appear to kick in right away as per usual. Him doesn't pull in back his claws despite the girl's grasp might be an imagery of him accepting who he is now and doesn't feel the need to keep it away from her. The blood in particular has always been synonymous with the character in the comic and the lack of it despite his brutal approach in combat for years now is undermining his lethal threat on others. The much-needed transition to R rating would change that and being represented with this poster and the following picture of a limb:

Aptly titled 'Aftermath,' the severed hand still holding tightly on the shotgun showed how fast Wolverine would operate in a fight and also the wet spot of blood would visually represent the R rating and how the actual fight would end up being in the movie.

Prom
Smelting Plant

The town has been identified to be West Texas on the street of El Paso, spurring speculation of the white-suited individual could be the Marvel villain Arcade who has superior intellect. The collapsed structure appeared to be used as a shelter with the out of place limo is parked at the back for the passengers to enter from behind.

Rest Stop
Pierce

I apologize for the small size of the left picture, they both have the same resolution and I had to fit them side by side. The rather vast nature of the setting would provide a nice change of scenery for the mutant mythology, while the passenger in the car waiting possibly for the driver is named Pierce, presumably to be Donald Pierce, "a mutant-hating genocidal maniac."

Aviso
Reservation Road?

A possible setting for the wondering Logan, Professor X and the girl to stop by in their journey as the Spanish sign indicated that he might be crossing over the boarder to get to his destination.

Looking at Professor X now, he is ravaged by time as the old age sickness would come to envelope his human body and affect his once powerful mind, leaving Logan to help him in any way he could.

The most solid prove of Logan's difficulty could be seen written down in the script itself that was tweeted by the director himself, with this descriptive description of his current condition:

“He’s older now and it’s clear his abilities aren’t what they once were. He’s fading on the inside and his diminished healing factor keeps him in a constant state of chronic pain — hence booze as a painkiller.”

(Director James Mangold [the Wolverine], Budget $127 Million USD, Genre - Action, Adventure, Family, Sci-Fi, FOX Mutant Universe)

+ Highlights +
the beautifully-captured photos to start its marketing campaign, the different direction for the mutants to go with on the silver screen with the most prominent one making his biggest final solo feature after almost two decades, the decreasing regenerative power of Wolverine would present a new and lethal threat on his life, the focus on family with Logan would have someone with familiar abilities, blood finally(!), change of scenery in vast areas, the aging and possibly deranged Professor X

? Points of contention ?
the aspect of time on the mutants and how it affect their physical and mental abilities

- Lowlights -
the unknown improbability of this particular storyline to tie in with the current FOX Mutant Universe especially considering Professor X and Mr. Sinister would be in active use for both
