going back in prehistoric time and down into the underworld ... wearing underpants
trailer & teasers:
Captain Underpants, Disney's Coco & Aardman's Early Man
Trailer Effectiveness = a full 100% for the perfect execution
-
a case for the extremely goofy adaptation:
+ Positive +
another entertaining animation in the veins of the recent Baby Boss that would appeal to the youngest moviegoers as well as the young at heart, probably ...
? Main contention ?
Dreamworks is the master of the current lower common denominator of comedy in the animation genre i.e. Madagascar franchise which is why they're the perfect studio to adapt this quirky premise,
I'm not sure the voice actors are the perfect fit here ... sure name recognition is important to market the film but at what cost? wouldn't a child voice actors be more fitting for ... you know, kids?
- Negative -
if you've never like their brand of humor before, you're out of luck here.

COCO
Chance of Success =
over 80% for Pixar's track record but a retread of a concept ...
-
a case for the familiar journey down under:
+ Highlights +
an imaginative premise based on the Mexican culture and beliefs which have their own take on what lies beyond death and everything that surrounds the underworld that's steep with their own color,
a capable director in Lee Unkrich of Toy Story 3 would calm our nerves down after the familiar premise and the late marketing campaign.
? Main contention ?
remember the Book of Life? it was the most recent movie based on the same aspect of the culture albeit with its own take ... we've only see a snippet of the underworld and its inhabitants in the trailer, but how much similarity would this be with that Guillermo del Toro's iteration in particular?
- Lowlights -
detractors would always bring up that Pixar simply going down an already trodden road, using an already proven concept instead of being original and come up with an all new idea, yet Mexican culture is diverse and deep enough that there's possibility of the movie being different enough from each other.

EARLY MAN
Chance of Success =
over 90% for their maintained excellence that would look to be continuing on
-
a case for the trip back in time:
+ Highlights +
a long running British company with really well-known and household name properties under its belts such as Shaun the Sheep and Wallace and Gromit on television as well a number of big screen adaptations that're well received all around the world,
an established instantly recognizable style that's the trademark of the company especially the signature looks of their characters would allow them to venture out in other mediums and do well despite the risk presented, unlike the exclusively movie-oriented Laika studio that couldn't find their audiences despite their superior stop motion skills ... maybe a small scale television series would do wonders for them.
? Main contention ?
as they always cater to the younger target demographic first and foremost, its comedy would always be at their level but its simple innocence would be a joy to watch especially if they kept to the same type of comedy they've been finessing for almost half a decade.
- Lowlights -
if you've never like Aardman's works from before, you may never will.
Cast
Eddie Redmayne as Dug, Tom Hiddleston as Lord Nooth, Maisie Williams ...
