Beauty on the Silver Screen and in Real Life
What?
When looking back throughout the history, it is always a human's basic tendency to focus on the good rather than the bad and from the specific viewpoint depiction of women in cinema and fashion, their looks are so iconic that they could be differentiate just like that but in reality, although not as visually memorable, their roles in the society then paved the way for women now.
Who?
The model herself made this video (as she said in the quote below).
How?
She was depicting the memorable look for each decade really well but she's adding to the original concept by portraying women in real life outside of the cinematic spotlight, doing their roles to serve the country as well as themselves with more realistic clothing and situations.
Why?
It's never a bad thing to be nostalgic and do a retrospective look on the past but it's thoughtful of her to highlight the gritty realism of life instead of the celebrated Hollywood image and considering the media's love for overglorification of anything that's pleasing to the eyes and idealistic image on the silver screen, the real life is too boring to focus on and wouldn't attract much publicity because of it.
Then?
It is more inspiring to see how far the society has come after going through a lot of hardship in the past and although there are still a lot of obstacles woman have to go through, their roles are more prominent and they are being less oppressed day by day.
So?
It's not all unicorns and rainbows in the past with the movie portrayal of the real world is more positive and idealistic to serve as a nice diversion yet we shouldn't forget where we came from as to not repeat them down the line.

"...it was supposed to be just another "Beauty Through The Decades" video. I saw lots of them already, but they all have seemed to show beauty standards in a very stereotypical and pop-culture way, so I wanted to do a more historically accurate one. As I was doing some research, I became more and more aware that beautiful faces and fashion we see on the photos, ads and fashion plates are just an idealistic version of reality. So here's to reality. "

Lesson Learned:
"Don't sensationalize the Hollywood representation of yesteryear too much that you overlook the real life situations."
