Neil Gaiman's own solitary journey through the country was the main inspiration for the story and setting, giving it a more authentic and pure American experience for the viewers to go on with the local myths and folktales that would be foreign to outsiders as well as on location filming such as at the House on the Rock

the beloved publication after 15 years would possibly getting a book sequel by the famed author himself coming out of this project, with him letting us know they are immense amount of stories that just couldn't fit into the novel but maybe into later seasons and the aforementioned sequel
(specifically a Kitsune story set in a Japanese internment camp during World War 2)

the extraordinary nature of magical and fantastical elements of the God concept and how it applies into the rather bland and ordinary real world and would affect how we view life in many ways,

Neil himself is heavily involved in the casting process hence the perfectly assembled cast of old and new that appeared to be straight off the pages yet this medium change present another variable; since he's constrained to only include stories surrounding Shadow, the main protagonist, he is now free to include other stories specifically the other Gods alongside his journey (Anansi Boys and Bilquis), a possibility that's both intriguing and terrifying at the same time if the execution falls short
with Shadow's point of view as an outsider to the world and the road trip journey between him and Mr. Wednesday throughout the most of the debut season, he would be the audience surrogate while the introduction to the magical world is slow and steady until the eventual clash between the gods

making the concept tangible, gods in this particular instance would live on depending on how much followers that are specifically believing in them with the war between the old and new: ranging from ancient deities (Thoth and Anubis) to more abstract and modern (Media and Technology, having them walking and living among human instead of looking down from the clouds would present a lot of extraordinary stories and more relatable viewpoint as farfetched as from the gods are concerned

- Synopsis -
“American Gods” posits a different kind of war brewing—one between Old Gods and New. The traditional Old Gods, with mythological roots from around the world, fear irrelevance as their believers die off or are seduced by the money, technology, and celebrity offered by the New Gods. Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) is an ex-con who, left adrift by the recent death of his wife, becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to conman Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane). But in truth, Mr. Wednesday is a powerful old deity, on a cross-country mission to build an army and reclaim his lost glory.

an intriguing concept of a genre mash-up between fantasy, crime/police & science fiction applied in its own unique way in current modern setting i.e. the sword and orc deputy,
a charismatic lead that's the most recognized worldwide and an established household name.

using the relationship gained from the previous collaboration, they at least have a good working experience together despite the universally negative receptions on said end product,
with the leading streaming platform now actively making and producing their own original products from television shows to now movies, there are concerns of them appeared to be too similar to each other with this particular trailer indicated that the same hue and color could be seen in others.
- Lowlights -
the inevitable negative feedback spilling out from their previous work despite they haven't even see the finished film themselves,
the writer is himself a rather controversial figure with his own divisive perspective out in the social media but his own works so far has been great yet still haven't got a breakthrough script as of yet instead of a just signature work in Chronicle.
