Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige:
"Avengers: Infinity War is the culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe as started in May of 2008 with the release of Iron Man 1, and it really is an unprecedented culmination of a series of films interlinked together, which at the time had never been done before. And for us the important thing is making it all come together. We know they’re gonna face Thanos; we’ve been setting that up since Avengers 1. How do you do that in a way that is unexpected, that pits the Avengers against somebody who is more powerful than anyone they’ve faced, and yet make them completely unprepared to face them? Well, tear them apart, which is why we did Civil War before Infinity War… Thanos shows us why he’s the biggest, the best, the baddest villain that we’ve ever had, and the most frightening villain that the Avengers have ever faced."

a case for the official quote:
+ Positives +
as teased by Kevin Feige in an in-depth interview, Thanos would be the main figure for the movie as the main focus should be on him as a main antagonist and see his character progression on the screen to ensure the most time onscreen and render his existence to mean something.
? Main contention ?
being the culmination of the events in the MCU started in Iron Man and introduced in the Avengers, the weight of the whole Cinematic Universe rest on the shoulder of this movie but by the looks of Captain America Civil War, it's in the best hands that the company could put on.
- Negatives -
unfortunate portrayal of Thanos throughout the Universe with him only on the sidelines (just sitting on his throne) doesn't really provide a good preview of him as a meaningful villain and a good buildup of his reputation as the big bad every Avenger need to face in this ensemble movie.
--
a case for the MCU:
+ Positive +
the first studio to start a cohesive shared universe in current movie industry and although there's a couple of dips in quality, the whole anthology of movies have been an excellent addition to the genre each time and be the sturdy measuring stick that haven't been met yet.
? Main contention ?
With the Phases coming and going for almost a decade now, what path would the Universe go down for the other Phases in the near future especially in the aftermath of Infinity War and the introduction of Multiverses in Doctor Strange?
- Negative -
No clear and distinct color and style for each character that essentially differ from each other but since the studio in controlling how each movie is made and need to follow a certain formula, everything looks monotonous and nothing stands out like in how superheroes were portrayed before.

---
a case for the directors:
+ Positive +
A calculated risk proved to be fruitful for the Winter Soldier, they received the vote of confidence from Marvel with a successive excellent followup in Civil War to lead the ensemble representative of the Universe in Infinity War since Joss Whedon dropped out of the driver's seat.
? Main contention ?
The third Captain America movie is basically Avengers 2.5 and serves as a testing ground for the Russo brothers to handle almost a dozen of characters in a single feature and give each of them ample screen time and storyline coherence. With almost universally loved by audiences and critics, they're on the right track to handle the biggest ensemble in terms of scope and how would it affect everything onward.

Thor Ragnarok
[November 3rd, 2017]
Chance of Success =  well above 75%
This second video of Thor and his roommate, Darryl, now fighting over the rent is to tease other videos that include the coupling of Rogers & Barnes as well as Stark & Rhodes for the recent HD home release Doctor Strange.

a case for these comical shorts:
+ Highlights +
Stripping off the grandiose sheen and produced look of the movies, putting the regal character of Thor in a realistic, more mundane everyday world just proves how hilarious this concept could be and this couple of shorts certainly prove just that with perfect timing and comedy bit by the director.
? Main contention ?
One-Shots that accompanied previous Marvel films had done a lot: set up the characters of Agent Coulson as well as Agent Carter (that's good enough to warrant her her own show) as well as the aftermath of the Avengers (Item 47) and Iron Man 3 (the real Mandarin). With high production values and professionally shot, it is understandable that it can't be continued to be produced and this more lower budget format would be the perfect replacement for future movie home releases.
- Lowlights -
It is always admirable to be able to poke fun at yourself once in a while and while these shorts came out because of the constant question of some plot holes in recent movies, they're basically great entertaining shorts.

- x-post from previous thread -

In Marvel Studios’ ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk!
a case for the official synopsis:
+ Highlights +
My previous prediction from before seemed to be on point although I overlooked the impending threat to Thor's homeworld by Hela, giving him motivation to push through the adversity put in front of him with a time sensitive catastrophe only he (and Hulk) could stop,
? Main contention ?
Already confirmed Doctor Strange to appear in the opening act to help Thor find his father, Odin, he could help in this fight against Hela as the God of Thunder somehow being imprisoned at the other side of the galaxy, possibly because of the Grandmaster's pact with Hela.
- Lowlights -
With the basic plot from Planet Hulk could be used in the movie, the more extraordinary nature of the storyline would never be implemented (at least for now).
--
a case for the franchise:
+ Positive +
Being the more regal side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the highly imaginative world and full of rich lore gives the audiences a new and different perspective of the superhero genre,
the intimate and personal storyline revolving around the relationship between Loki and Thor and their fathers Odin presents the most interesting throughline and the best villain in MCU yet.
? Main contention ?
As the first movie being a personal journey for the protagonist while the second being the more inconsequential,  where could they go from here on out?
- Negative -
The quality of the movies has been going down between the original and the sequel although they provide an adequate foundation for the next iteration.
---
a case for the Ragnarok:

+ Positive +
Going full interplanetary adventure away from the established Avengers Universe down on Earth, they are at their most free to go on a full solitary adventure not tie too strongly with the others while tangentially(?) related to the the throughline of Thanos in MCU,
following the events in the Dark World and Age of Ultron, a road trip across the galaxy for Hulk and Thor together would be a different dynamic between the two as they encounter a number of aliens and involved in their storyline that would be connected with the latter's own world while the former would be the audience substitute in the movie as he is now the alien in other being's universe,
according to the leaked promotional art, this is how they would looked fully in gladiator garbs and armors, complete with a battle hammer for Hulk and surprisingly a couple of swords (and finally his signature helmet!) for Thor without his trusty Mjolnir ... this is all because they're forced to fight in behest of Jeff Goldblum's character, Grandmaster, (following roughly the Planet Hulk comic book storyline) although the official storyline hasn't been released yet.
? Main contention ?
Sharing the screen time with another Avenger, how much would the storyline revolves around the God of Thunder?
- Negative -
It is possible they're going a bit overboard in their direction.
----
a case for the director:

+ Positive +
Quirky humour and unconventional style of the director would be a nice fresh perspective on the universe (ala James Gunn's GotG),
his deft hands in directing a number of genres (vampire, adventure) is shown in his short of where Thor was during Captain America Civil War.
-
? Main contention ?
The conversion to the first big studio film for the director would be the ultimate variable although the studio's current track record has been excellent so far with the Russo brothers for Captain America the Winter Soldier.
- Negative -
Humour is subjective and although his is almost universally accepted, there would be people who would be put off by it, however far-fetched that would be.
