Get to Know your Fandoms #1
Franklyn FM MCInnis (Funko POP)

I came across this video awhile ago but it presents a wonderful opportunity for me to share my fandom with the readers since I have a lot of random topics I haven't had the chance to share with you guys yet. Although nobody tag me as Franklyn was in the video above, this is my particular way to tag you guys and do your own list! It's always nice to find someone that share the same interests so let's get moving!

Top Fandom Wallpapers
Since I can't decide what property I love the most as of now, it is apparent what my passion has been for the past few years especially if you've been visiting my blog here every now and then: wallpapers. Ranging from movies to games to anime to comic to nature and everything in between, I just love this medium as I wanted to share the joy of visually appealing images as your daily desktop backgrounds.

Science Fiction Black Mirror
I can't think of one that I adore myself but since I wholeheartedly agree with Franklyn's choice above, Black Mirror is certainly one of the best science fiction television show right now, revolving around the near future possibilities of technologies affecting our modern life less for the better and definitely for the worse. Whether it was the smartphone in your hands or more advanced version of current technology, the black surface would reflect and highlight the worst in humanity and that good sci-fi!

Fantasy = Harry Potter
Every people have their own genre that rub them the wrong way or not to their liking, just like FM here, but I haven't find mine yet since I love or at least take a liking to every genre out there. For fantasy in particular, J.K. Rowling masterful writing allowed me to delve into the world of wizardry as I follow from the release of the first book until the final film in the cinema. Harry Potter is the pinnacle of the genre and serves as the measuring stick for any other YA novels to follow or at least try to. Not much have come to its level let alone surpass it, which is why this world full of spells and magic is still keeping me spellbound and attracted to it even after all these years! Well done, J.K..

Animated Movie the LEGO Batman Movie
I can't fathom how this spin-off of the surprising hit the LEGO Movie did not hit the same way or even surpass the receptions of the predecessor since it used the rich property of the Dark Knight to its fullest potential from effective meta commentary on its long-running place in the pop culture as well as the many variations and iterations throughout the years. It is without a doubt the most fun take of Batman yet and I hope it would find the audiences it deserves and continue on despite it!
-
Kids Cartoon Adventure Time
There is no word that could be sufficient representation of the level of creativity and imagination that is palpable in every frame of the animated show that support the rather simple storylines and expand on them to the benefits of the viewing experience, entertaining the younger demography and delighting the older counterpart. All that colours and designs; you can't go wrong with them, man!
"You're getting all hung up on imaginary problems. You gotta focus on what' real, man."
-
Live Action TV Agents of SHIELD
This is the most saturated sub-genres in this list bar none and I would be remissed not to highlight my favourite Marvel television shows (among many solid outings especially in Netflix): Agents of SHIELD. It is disheartening to hear that abc was planning to cancel it despite having the best outing yet last time out with the combination of Ghost Rider, Life Model Decoy and Agents of HYDRA. Thankfully Disney put a stop to that and with space is on the horizon, it couldn't go anywhere but up!
Horror the Witch
I want to highlight this delightful little gem, a splendid directorial debut by Robert Eggers, blending effectively the New England setting with the antiquated language and complete faith in their religion, playing to the effective buildup of atmosphere and the impending threat to the benefit of the film. It is not a typical horror movie, devoid of the tropes people are used to, for better and for worse.
-
Anime Spirited Away
Japanese interpretation of animation is now its own particular sub-genre that is so different and unique that people needs to be exposed to it early on to get used to how they are animated and stylized. Since it includes serialized television shows and full features, I would recommend one of the best representations by a legend in the industry, Hayao Miyazaki. Spirited Away. I do not have to say anything else for this one masterpiece. Give anime a go even if this doesn't grab you right away.

Comedy Whose Line Is It Anyway?
I can't stomach much of the multicam comedy shows currently on that panders to the nth degree and humour that is the lowest common denominator. I now know that this particular show didn't actually come up with this stuff exactly on the spot (a dry run before the eventual taping is definite necessary precaution) but it never diminish my opinions on these individuals' talents to entertain us, especially the few remaining original cast.

Book Ready Player One
Ernest Cline's 2011 science fiction nostalgia ride through a plethora of pop culture properties that is now eerily closer to reality than ever before, a nostalgia ride that is complimented with excellent world building and engaging storyline and equally relatable characters. Even if some of the references are dated now, no wonder George Lucas would turn it into a movie:
-
Video Game Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
Game is used mainly for entertainment purposes but it is rarely used to put the spotlight on specific mental conditions. In this instance, the ever capable Ninja Theory spun out another rich tale set in the Viking age, following ever so closely a Celtic warrior in an epic journey to save her lover's soul. Under the beautiful yet eerie, shiny yet gritty surface, it is ultimately revolves around her mental state as they believably represent psychosis with the help of neuroscientists and let us see her personal evolution that ended in bittersweet triumph. Under more inexperienced developer, it could end up as a hollow cash-grab of a real infliction but instead we are presented with a adept and 'faithful' representation that would at least let us understand it a little bit better.

80's Movie Back to the Future
I am not exposed to this decade because I am only recently delving into more classic movies from Hollywood but among a select few that I have the opportunity to watch, Back to the Future certainly stands proudly above and over the crowd. Cheese aplenty, don't get me wrong, but the then unique premise and the whole movie around the setting is so solidly directed and constructed by Robert Zemeckis that it is still holding up even until today!

Guilty Pleasures Funko POP!
I stumbled upon it accidentally more than a year ago with Rogue One's Darth Vader as my first Pop and I haven't look back since. Even though my search has been slowed down and acquiring of the figures is at a standstill right now because of my financial limitation, my constant posting of my customized designs here and on instagram surely show how much I am interested in this medium.
-
Superhero Gargoyles

Coming off of my guilty pleasure, here is one my best works so far, rendering Goliath in its custom Funko POP form and here as my hero of the day. Sure he is not the most conventional type out there but he is still trying to do good by the people no matter what they think of him and his kinds. Despite the overwhelming negativity and the constant need to hide away, I applaud Disney for making this underappreciated gem many years ago that they would basically be a perfect role models for kids. I hope it would come back in the future!

Random Fandom Colouted Pencils
I still have the remaining Staedtler coloured pencils from my high school and since the area where it can be used has decreased and minimized as I moved from one level to another, I bought a couple of extra sets during my university life and still have them until now with minimal amount of use across all four of them. Now I have another outlet in Funko POP designs, my interest in this medium has been enlightened once more! Oh, I found a place where they sell one pencil each! I can just buy any colour that I have used the most or maybe a few that I have lost. Isn't that neat?!
