Trailer Review 025 Luke Cage Teaser Trailer (SDCC 2016) [Netflix] {Marvel}

Luke Cage
[093016] Chance of Success =  85%

- filmed in the same way as the other Marvel Netflix series that came before it as well as the same aesthetics although with a yellow tint throughout, representing the original character's main colour compared to Jessica Jones' indigo tint and Daredevil's dark red tint -

- with the same motivation to protect the city albeit in a smaller circle, Luke Cage was advised by an older acquaintance to help the people downtown -

- accompanied by Ol' Dirty Bastard's 'Shimmy Shimmy Ya', in another hallway fight scene that is now synonymous with this MCU "anthology", he proceeded to enter a compound with a car's door he effortlessly pulled out that serves as a shield and a weapon although he did it purely out of convenience in subduing the bad guys -

- his superhuman strength was in full force here as he pushed a gun-toting through a window, enveloping another in said steel door, breaking a machete in half with his fist, throwing a full grown man through the ceiling, punching through the wall to break a steel pipe off and use it as weapon, walking confidently into the line of machinegun fire with the shooter loosing his grip on the trigger as Luke Cage came close and subduing him through the metal gate and subsequently kicked said gate off its hinges (I apologise for the literal recap, this is the first time we see a full superhuman strength beatdown in the Netflix series)

- as he stood tall and even urging the oncoming wave of baddies to get at him, his confidence in his abilities and his conscience to do good for Harlem shone through when he was confronted by a possible villain of the show -

~ Synopsis ~
Given superstrength and durability by a sabotaged experiment, a wrongly accused man escapes prison to become a superhero for hire.

Cast
Mike Colter - Luke Cage
Mahershala Ali - Cornell Stokes
Frankie Faison - Pop
...

(Producer Cheo Hodari (Ray Donovan), Rating TV-MA, Genre - Action AdventureCrime, Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sci-Fi, Superhero, Urban)

+ Highlights: the fittingly engaging soundtrack, the teased hallway scene, the wrapping of the baddie in a steel car door
- Lowlights: having the same visual and even the same basic power with Jessica Jones excluding his impenetrable skin, this particular show needs to differentiate itself with the more investigative nature of Jessica by maybe focusing more on his strength and his relationship with the Bronx
