Westworld [Fall 2016]
Chance of Success = 75%
WESTWORLD is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. Set at the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past, it explores a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.
Cast
Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Jimmi Simpson, Rodrigo Santoro and Clifton Collins, Jr.
(Executive Producer J.J. Abrams & Jonathan Nolan, Original writer - Michael Crichton [book], Length - 10 Episodes, Rating - M(?), Genre - Sci-Fi, Western)
~ A long awaited reboot of the classic movie of a futuristic take on the western genre with a weird mix of exhilaration and macabre while this new iteration appeared to tackle the concept of existentialism among the visitors as well as the occupants
~ The troubled production caused by unfinished final scripts following the background actors' contract controversy could be foreshadowing the show's story issue and the heightened sexual imagery could affect the end product as the channel's recent troubled attempts with other potential television show projects to follow up on Game of Thrones could be punctuated by this particular project
~ All the bad press on the show would provide the viewers concerns but it could not overshadow the interesting science fiction concept and the solid cast in front and behind the camera which is evident in the excellent debut trailer with high-end production value accompanying a good tease of the show's dark tone and characters
