(Director Dean Israelite [Project Almanac], Writer Haim Saban & Shuki Levy [Mighty Morphin Power Rangers tv series], Budget $120 Millions, Genre - Action, Adventure, Alien, Fantasy, Power Rangers Universe)
~ Following in recent trend of resurrecting old beloved and well-known franchises, this is an expected modern day reboot of a hit children television show whom garnered a lot of fandom that didn't translate from the small screen into the silver screen in terms of box office success which would have the greatest chance to succeed now.
~ The zany concept of teenage warriors under alien's guidance to defend the world from other aliens that always culminated in now trademark kaiju-against-giant robot fights is always viewed to be too outlandish and fantastical to be adapted properly for the general audiences and this latest effort to 'modernize' it is understandable after taking it into consideration.
~ Drastic changes to the costumes and appearances of the villainous Rita Repulsa and the Rangers themselves, as their alien origins played into how they are portrayed aesthetically and their more intertwined storyline, although this more modern and edgy take could be misconstrued as too much of a change by the die-hard-fans of the original series as well as nostalgia seekers or preservers.
~ The inclusion of contemporary actors such as Elizabeth Banks and Bryan Cranston showcased the studio's intention to bring more credibility and well-known names to the cast, with the former's resurgence in her career and the latter's return to the place where he started his career showed the movie as a viable box office success and an actor's sense of respect.
