Set in the 26th century, it tells the story of Alita, an amnesiac female cyborg who is rescued from a scrapyard by a doctor. The rebuilt Alita, remembering only her training in a deadly martial art, becomes a hunter-warrior, tracking down and eliminating vicious criminals. Within the context of an epic action-adventure, the film will explore a young woman’s journey of self-discovery and finding love.

~ With the recent progress on this long gestating project of an excellent manga, a franchise with strong female protagonist (albeit a cyborg) that is in line with then director James Cameron (of Alien and Terminator fame) but his recent career shift forced his hand to serve only as a producer while handing in the reign to a surprising albeit fitting director Robert Rodriguez whom has a diverse career track record with varying degree of success which troubled the movie fans to some extent although the casting of Rosa Salazar as the main lead was met with praise and more optimism for this particular project considering her roles in Maze Runner the Scorch Trials and Insurgent, being able to stand out in rather mediocre movies while demonstrating her action chops which is appropriate
