Marvel TV Picture/Trailer Review 049: Inhumans | Runaways | the Defenders

Inhumans
teaser and official picture and poster
IMAX
[September 1st, 2017]
Teaser Effectiveness =
100% for teasing the main storyline of this particular family and nothing more
Chance of Success =
just over 80% with the tepid response for Agents of SHIELD despite the increase of quality and the cancellation of movie would be fight over by the IMAX format and short compact event
-
a case for the short teaser and official first cast look:
+ Positive +
the 'tangibilization' of a project long in development and lost in limbo that's finally being brought to life,
~
being in the same ilk of family drama tone as Game of Thrones as well as the fight for the throne.
? Main contention ?
sure the characters would look different from the comic book counterpart and a whole lot of interpretation has to be made to fit into the current established universe (you can see a couple of fanmade 'corrections' down there) and as usual the Entertainment Weekly pictures are not the best representation of any movie.
- Negative -
would always be unfairly viewed and treated as a downgrade and a second fiddle in the whole MCU.

Cast
Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Iwan Rheon as Maximus, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Sonya Balmores as Auran, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Ken Leung as Karnak, Mike Moh as Triton, Elly Woglom, ...

- Synopsis -
An isolated community of superhumans fight to protect themselves.

(Episodes - 8, Genre - Action, Adventure, Drama, Marvel Cinematic Universe {ABC}, Sci-Fi, Superhero)

Runaways
order for a full series
hulu
[Early 2018 Nope, it's this winter!]
(LEAKED!) Trailer Effectiveness = just over 80% as a tease of their whole journey
Chance of Success definitely around 90% since it's catered to the young adult demographic and a different premise in the superhero genre especially in the MCU (it's not confirmed yet though)
-
a case for the possibly solid war thriller:

+ Positive +
They look the part and ... not much else is there, right?
? Main contention ?
Would the dinosaur be there, at all? Please let it at least be a cameo ...
- Negative -
Why won't they release an official trailer already? Granted it was only from the pilot and a tease of what's to come.

Rhenzy Feliz (Teen Wolf) as Alex Wilder is a loud-and-proud nerd. Admittedly a bit of a loner, Alex spends much of his free-time playing video games, but deep down, what he wants most is to reunite his childhood group of friends.
Lyrica Okano (The Affair) as Nico Minoru – tough, intelligent, and independent–embodies teenage angst. A budding “Wiccan,” Nico’s carefully crafted goth appearance isolates her from her peers and family, but maybe what she really needs is someone to talk to.
Virginia Gardner (Goat) as Karolina Dean, model-perfect exterior with a lot going on behind her professionally whitened smile, is burdened by the lofty expectations and responsibilities put upon her by her parents. Underneath her veneer of privilege and perfection, Karolina is experiencing a newfound eagerness to explore her identity and pursue her own desires.
Ariela Barer (New Girl) as Gert Yorkes is a purple-haired, bespectacled, contemporary riot grrrl. Never passing up a moment to stand on a soapbox, Gert sometimes wields her persona as a brash social justice warrior to mask her true feelings.
Gregg Sulkin (Faking It) as Chase Stein is a lacrosse-playing, high school heartthrob. While many write him off as a dumb jock, Chase exhibits flashes of untapped brilliance in engineering, not unlike his wildly successful father’s.
Allegra Acosta (100 Things to Do Before High School) as Molly Hernandez, the youngest and most innocent member of her friend group, is known for her peppy positivity and a deep yearning to belong.

Cast
see above for the main cast ...

- Synopsis -
Adapted from the comic by Brian K. Vaughn and Adrian Alphona (at one point in its run, Joss Whedon also wrote for the series), it tells the story of a group of diverse teenagers who discover their parents are part of an evil crime organization called "The Pride."

Though the six teens despise one another, they band together to investigate their parents' nefarious plots. Scwartz and Savage wrote the script for the pilot and will serve as showrunners moving forward.

the Defenders
first trailer and official poster
Netflix
[August 18th, 2017]
Trailer Effectiveness  100% as finally interactions between them and guaranteed action represented and teasing of what's to come as they fight Elektra and the head(?) of the Hand, Alexandra
Chance of Success definitely over 90% with the success of the first third series but the most recent would give the viewers trepidation and a bit more cautious for the next Netflix Marvel series
-
a case for the possibly solid war thriller:

+ Positive +
Finally dream interactions between the four characters ranging from common sense (i.e. Matt Murdock being a lawyer for the rest of the Defenders) to iconic sequence (i.e. the Iron Fist meeting Luke Cage's impenetrable skin) and how they would bounce off each other,
~
it would be a mega event as a culmination of the whole four separate series and the now signature hall scene appeared to be the best representation as we see how their powers would be used.
? Main contention ?
being created solely for the show, Alexandra would be an opposition on a completely different level altogether as all of them are forced together to go against her although with a bit of a much needed guidance by Stick,
~
as Elektra appeared to be being brought to life, how much would her role be serving the Hand against the Defenders?
- Negative -
with only three out of four homeruns for the Netflix MC Universe, this almost universally critical view of the most recent Iron Fist as anything he's done would be viewed in a negative light.
Cast
Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Finn Jones as Danny Rand, Sigourney Weaver as Alexandra, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse, Rachel Taylor by Trish Walker, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Scott Glenn as Stick, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple ...

- Synopsis -
Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist team up to fight crime in New York City.

(Episodes - 8, Genre - Adventure, Crime, Drama, Marvel Netflix Universe, Superhero)
