Guardians of the Galaxy
 the Telltale Series
(Telltale Games) [Q4 2017]
Trailer Effectiveness =  just around 80%
Chance of Success = definitely 100% for all the possibilities!

- Synopsis -
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series delivers a brand new story of the universe's unlikeliest heroes, the rag-tag band of outlaws who go by the names Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot.
In the wake of an epic battle, the Guardians discover an artifact of unspeakable power. Each of the Guardians has a reason to desire this relic, as does a ruthless enemy who is the last of her kind, and who will stop at nothing to tear it from their hands. From Earth to the Milano to Knowhere and beyond, and set to the beat of awesome music, this five-part episodic series puts you in the rocket-powered boots of Star-Lord in an original Guardians adventure, told in the unique and award-winning Telltale style, where your decisions and actions will drive the path of the story you experience.
The energizing blend of humor, emotion, teamwork, and full-on sci-fi action-adventure of the Guardians provides an enormously satisfying space to explore through Telltale’s unique style of interactive storytelling," said Kevin Bruner, Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games. "In Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, players will take on multiple roles within the ragtag band of heroes, and take the pilot’s seat in directing their escapades around the universe. We are always honored to be working with the best creative partners and storytellers in entertainment, and working with Marvel on this series leaves us excited to share what we’ve been developing when it premieres in 2017.

a case for the official description:
+ Highlights +
Opening up the game with an epic battle, it would let the players diving straight into the action, just like in the first episode of Batman's Telltale since they would possibly use the already established and loved movie's characters as a springboard and follow their journey together again,
the 'artifact' if based on the movie would probably has ties with the Collector and with its power (maybe at the same level as the Infinity Stones), the reluctant team-up of these aliens with different motivations behind their actions would want to use it to suit themselves the best and present a very hostile relationship between the Guardians yet entertaining to engage in (ala Rhys and Fiona in Tales from the Borderlands),
the possibility of multiple locations around the Marvel Universe to go to inside their trademark spaceship, Milano, the visuals of different planets and possibly different mechanics to fit the surroundings,
not only the soundtrack is integral to the main character's backstory, the choices of throwback 90s music gives an interestingly familiar melody to listen to in nostalgia inducing journey through space.
? Main contention ?
How much would it tie into the movie's universe since everything Marvel is connected although their game property is still remained to be seen if it would be at all since it's choice based and the experience would differ from one player to another as per Telltale usual,
comparing to the movie's counterpart, the main villain have a similar motivation as Ronan the Accuser in fighting for her own kind especially she's the sole survivor, having a valid reason in her own actions that would induce sympathy but giving more gravity in her threat to the team.

--
a case for the comic series:
+ Highlights +
The original's playful tone and carefree attitude towards the assembly of their ragtag group and also towards the Marvel Universe on the pages in general.
? Main contention ?
A plethora of characters being included in their journey from every facet and part of the Universe would be a huge aspect to handle smartly and delicately.
- Lowlights -
Too over the top to adapt as it is.
--
a case for the movie:
+ Positive +
A risk taken by the studio on the director's take on the not well-known premise that proved to be a massive home-run.
? Main contention ?
Having the constraint to play only in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and follow the already  established storyline, it would be a gamechanger's option for the developer to choose from:
using the established timeline of the MCU or using the established characters but putting them into another grand adventure apart from the movie.
- Negative -
The now prevalent issue of non fleshed-out villains in the MCU should be rectified in this game adaptation.
---
a case for the game:
+ Positive +
The most recent success of Tales from the Borderlands was because of its particular Universe itself and also its cast of colorful characters having to work together despite their differences, ala GotG,
their ability to write an amazing and engaging storyline between them as they each have their own character progression from the start of the game until the bitter end.
? Main contention ?
How much the now proven formula of a Telltale game could be changed to suit the more action-oriented premise.
- Negative -
And yes, the Telltale game formula, whether you like or not, would not have drastic changes in its current successful climate.

Thor Ragnarok
[November 3rd, 2017]
Chance of Success =  well above 75%

-

In Marvel Studios’ ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk!

a case for the official synopsis:
+ Highlights +
My previous prediction from before seemed to be on point although I overlooked the impending threat to Thor's homeworld by Hela, giving him motivation to push through the adversity put in front of him with a time sensitive catastrophe only he (and Hulk) could stop,
? Main contention ?
Already confirmed Doctor Strange to appear in the opening act to help Thor find his father, Odin, he could help in this fight against Hela as the God of Thunder somehow being imprisoned at the other side of the galaxy, possibly because of the Grandmaster's pact with Hela.
- Lowlights -
With the basic plot from Planet Hulk could be used in the movie, the more extraordinary nature of the storyline would never be implemented (at least for now).

-
a case for the franchise:
+ Positive +

Being the more regal side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the highly imaginative world and full of rich lore gives the audiences a new and different perspective of the superhero genre,
the intimate and personal storyline revolving around the relationship between Loki and Thor and their fathers Odin presents the most interesting throughline and the best villain in MCU yet.
? Main contention ?
As the first movie being a personal journey for the protagonist while the second being the more inconsequential,  where could they go from here on out?
- Negative -

The quality of the movies has been going down between the original and the sequel although they provide an adequate foundation for the next iteration.
--
a case for the Ragnarok:

+ Positive +
Going full interplanetary adventure away from the established Avengers Universe down on Earth, they are at their most free to go on a full solitary adventure not tie too strongly with the others while tangentially(?) related to the the throughline of Thanos in MCU,
following the events in the Dark World and Age of Ultron, a road trip across the galaxy for Hulk and Thor together would be a different dynamic between the two as they encounter a number of aliens and involved in their storyline that would be connected with the latter's own world while the former would be the audience substitute in the movie as he is now the alien in other being's universe,
according to the leaked promotional art, this is how they would looked fully in gladiator garbs and armors, complete with a battle hammer for Hulk and surprisingly a couple of swords (and finally his signature helmet!) for Thor without his trusty Mjolnir ... this is all because they're forced to fight in behest of Jeff Goldblum's character, Grandmaster, (following roughly the Planet Hulk comic book storyline) although the official storyline hasn't been released yet.
? Main contention ?
Sharing the screen time with another Avenger, how much would the storyline revolves around the God of Thunder?
- Negative -
It is possible they're going a bit overboard in their direction.
---
a case for the director:

+ Positive +
Quirky humour and unconventional style of the director would be a nice fresh perspective on the universe (ala James Gunn's GotG),
his deft hands in directing a number of genres (vampire, adventure) is shown in his short of where Thor was during Captain America Civil War.
-
? Main contention ?
The conversion to the first big studio film for the director would be the ultimate variable although the studio's current track record has been excellent so far with the Russo brothers for Captain America the Winter Soldier.
- Negative -
Humour is subjective and although his is almost universally accepted, there would be people who would be put off by it, however far-fetched that would be.
