Approach, unsheathe or turn away?

Hitting the stride, are you now...?
Guess you just have forget about the void being your personal decision-making wishing well at the moment, the narrator laments. Seeing that they do not have anyone else to lean on moving forward, the adventurer lets out a grunt of confidence, pulling out the shield from the back and holds it close to the chest as they spun around on their heel without moving from the spot. They could see the sapling from earlier inexplicably is in the middle of the dirt path, safely tuck into the ground as if it was meant to be there. As they shuffle their legs to fix the defensive stance they try to take here in the face of this bizarre situation, they could see there's a hole a bit further behind the 'plant', having the exact same size that could hold the aforementioned flora. The bits of ground strewn all around it seem to suggest that this actual magical creature has to move around by uprooting its roots and scooch on over to its desired direction. Since the now wary adventurer stopped in their tracks just now, it decides to burrow itself back into the ground to avoid suspicion from their wandering eyes... Well, as much as a giant sapling in the middle of the road could be inconspicuous. They take a couple of beats to see if there's any movement that could be seen from the sapling when they're staring at it, but they think that could be the problem. It's safe to assume that it would only move if unseen by others, especially if it didn't not know the intention of this well-equipped fellow right in front of it for example. Well, what is your intention now, oh dear adventurer? Should you approach it curiously, unsheathe your sword menacingly or turn right back around and walk away? Tick, tock.
Approach, unsheathe or turn away? Decisions, decisions! In the end, they decided to...?
