definitely over 90% with a revisit of the world with American twist yet Colin Firth's return ... how?
definitely over 90% with a revisit of the world with American twist yet Colin Firth's return ... how?
the rote premise of a spy genre excellently riffed and commentated on with a fresh English charm and quality led and represented wonderfully by the surprisingly dapper Colin Firth and his charming disciple Taron Egerton, as the simple premise is being explored to the nth degree and executed with the highest of quality in the final product gloriously in R-rated action and espionage-in-training,

virtually the same team bringing back the franchise to life after the successful proof of concept, now moving to America for a fresh change of pace and location to avoid retreading the same thread as the new set of characters would be a great foil for the established lead while how the Kingsman concept would be applied in America and construed by them.
? Main contention ?
with the element of surprise as the major element for the first movie, the element of anticipation would affect the sequel tremendously from as the fans would want in the followup and wouldn't want a rehash of the same formula ... how well they could find the balance is the main throughline here,
~
the state of how Firth's character ended up in the original appeared to be finite in nature and his surprising return in this sequel would need to be cohesively told and makes sense in the storyline.
- Negative -
if everyone was always in the face of lethal danger in the original.

80% with the known franchise and packed cast but apprehensive of the director

a case for the renowned franchise:
+ Positive +
a case for the renowned franchise:
a successful remake of a 1960s Rat Pack comedy heist, supporting a simple premise with a stacked cast of world class actors to fully fleshed out the storyline and they most of the time succeeded,
~
not only having some of the biggest household names on the same screen and interacting with each other, the series also put on the forefront the heist genre in the industry.
? Main contention ?
despite the inconsistent quality of the trilogy, Steven Soderbergh conjured up one of his most renowned works in his solid filmography
- Negative -
even the cast and big budgeted sequences couldn't cover up the flimsy throughline of a storyline.

a case for the unnecessary(?) followup:
a case for the unnecessary(?) followup:

despite what the intention is behind the followup, it is always a treat to have established actresses on the same picture together and how their different characteristics would clash and cooperate hopefully.
? Main contention ?
how much would this new iteration tie into the original Steven's trilogy whether just tangentially or directly, and would it be retreading the same plot since this is basically the third go at the premise?
~
the less-than-stellar past filmography of the director could be a cause for concern but his experience with a big studio motion picture in the Hunger Games would prepare him for this particular project.
- Negative -
in current social climate, anything done in the same mentality to equality in general would be inexplicably frowned upon and viewed to be pandering to the less prominent community in the industry and with the main 'issue' of the franchise that was starring male performers in the past now replaced with female performers, it is in essence a turn for the better despite what people think of it and what let the studio executives to green light it at the first place.

just above 80% with the capable lead and director full of potential and (so far) faithful representation of the reboot's first game
+ Positive +
she's the perfect embodiment of the titular character with the carbon copy look from the game's recent reboot, down to her wardrobe and the signature climbing axe and even the placement of the wounds she took early in the game, giving us the best confident boost of them being the most faithful adaptation at the least,
~
shooting on location and even herself doing at least some of her own stunts (if the set photos were to be believed) would be representing the beautiful locales apparent in the game in the best way possible and with her being physically there would further engross us in the world and her character and the journey she's going through,

? Main contention ?
with the same storyline apparently followed beat by beat, she's being forced onto this foreign world and although her experience with rock-climbing would come in handy, the physical strain and bloody encounter would be hard on her, hence her skinny yet muscular appearance,
- Negative -
she looks basically the same as the game counterpart but the still oblivious of the recent reboot would still relate the franchise with her older and bombastic iteration, body shaming her just because they're being naively unrealistic.
