TV Show Review #011 - WWE Raw Recap 092815
WWE RAW 092815 [1993->] 3.5/5
+ Reintroduction of US Championship Open Challenge
+ Another entertaining time on the microphone by the New Day with great use of humour and trombone
1. John Cena vs Xavier Woods for US Championship
+ Great matchup between the pure strength and the great athleticism, with Cena's attempts to finish being countered again and again. But in the end, it showed that experience and determination triumphs over technique and pure enthusiasm, well almost before...
(John Cena won by disqualification because of the New Day's interference - Rating = 3/5 - +1 to Cena's reign & +1 for Wood's ability)
2. John Cena & the Dudley Boyz vs the New Day
+ Entertaining encounter between the veterans and the young trio, showcasing the solid moves of the former and the teamwork of the latter. The match proved how solid the Boyz are as well as the champion while the New Day had to resort to cheap trick to win even though they performed their best.
(the New Day won by pin fall - Rating = 3.5/5 - +1 to Cena's & the Dudley Boyz's forms & +1 to the New Day's heel run)
+ Performance Review is a smart mechanic to 'deal' with Kane's dual personality and showcasing his acting after all this time outside of the spotlight. (+1 to Corporate Kane's charisma, -1 for no explanation from last week)
> Running Thread: Roman Reigns vs Bray Wyatt
+ A good interaction here between the former SHIELD members regarding the Wyatt Family. Randy Orton came over to keep the thread going. (+1 to each character, audience reaction showed the character who is 'getting over' in order of appearance)
3. Big Show vs Mark Henry
+ The match ended as fast and sudden as the introduction of the feud between the Big Show and Brock Lesnar for the upcoming main event, but it showed how strong 'the Tallest Athlete' are, even when confronted by 'the Strongest Man Alive'. (the Big Show won by pin fall [knock-out punch] - Rating = 3/5 - +1 to Big Show's form & +1 to Mark Henry's willingness to put him over)
+ As the Miz being his usual 'heel' self, he's quickly sidelined after a sexist remark to give room for the former PCB members and Team Bella to trade jabbing quips with each other, with Paige landing a lot of valid criticisms on the Diva division and the 'Divas' themselves. (+1 to feud in PCB and between PCB and Team Bella, 0 for again focusing on the drama rather than actual action)
4. Team PCB vs Team Bella
+ It's a standard three versus three tag team match, with Lynch and Fox again as the main victims but they did good putting over the others. The begrudging Paige got an accidental bump, adding to her feud with Charlotte and also Natalya who came into the story to confront the young Diva. Nikki got the pin because of the distraction, boosting her heel prowess against the frazzled champion.
(Team Bella won by pin fall [back breaker] - Rating = 3/5 - +1 to Paige's story with the PCB & Natalya, +1 to Nikki as she gained traction for the upcoming Divas Championship)
+ A great accompaniment to the ongoing plot, with Corporate Kane being a good-natured employee for his co-worker that was played well for the camera and with an obvious movie scene recreation to boot. (+1 to Corporate Kane's charisma, +1 to 'paranoid' Seth Rollins)
5. the Prime Time Players vs Luke Harper & Braun Strowman
+ A good tag team match filler. The Players are as solid as ever but even them cannot simply brush aside the brute strengths of the Wyatt Family members, as the latter dominate the proceedings and further adding to their fire in the universe (Luke Harper & Braun Strowman won by head choke - Rating = 3/5 - +1 to the Prime Time Players' unchanging form, +1 to the Wyatt members' aura of power)
6. Neville vs Star Dust
+ A couple of good performances by these two agile and technical wrestlers but fearing of retreading the same water (did I used that correctly?), a reintroduction of King Barrett is rather timely here who's looking good as always after a injury time out. (Neville won by DQ/disqualification [Bull Hammer] - Rating = 3.5/5 - +1 to the two high flyers' form, as short as that was, +1 to King Barrett's heel comeback)
+ As the full evaluation came to an end, these two characters played well off of each other, as Seth tried to appeal to logic (as he should) while Kane tried to feign ignorance. With video packages played well to both sides as well as conveniently summarizing the relationship this duo has throughout the year, further solidifying this storyline to be well earned and deservedly so.
+ When the review itself didn't went as the champion wanted and rather blew up in his face, he proceeded to try to put Kane out of commission by attacking the same leg he broke before. As the latter being carried out in an ambulance, this was the chance for Demon Kane to come out in his own signature way, fixing his injured leg just like that and continued on to overpower Rollins and almost landing the killing blow, before signaling his title challenge by holding up the Championship Belt that got left behind. (+1 to Corporate Kane's charisma, +1 to 'paranoid' Seth Rollins, +1 to Demon Kane's mystical power)
7. Randy Orton vs Bo Dallas
+ The 'motivational speaker' has always something to say in every city and he unintentionally (or intentionally?) touched a touchy subject hence gaining him some heat which Randy Orton used masterfully by playing to the audiences every step of the way. As much as it's a filler, the vintage Orton is proven again a master in the ring. (Orton won by pin fall [RKO] - Rating = 3.5/5 - +1 to 'Bolieve', +1 to the Viper's going over)
8. Kevin Owens vs Rusev
+ These two are evenly matched and could've been interesting to see being drawn out but with Ryback at the commentary table, it's too enticing for the champion and ended up throwing Rusev into the number one contender. It ended the match but both of them proceeded to beat him up, that was until Ziggler ran down to save the day. (Rusev won by DQ [outside interference] - Rating = 3.5/5 - +1 to the US Championship feud, +1 to the Rusev vs Ziggler feud)
> Running Main Event Thread: the Big Show vs Brock Lesnar (+1)
+ The infamous promoter was in the middle of the ring to yet again successfully sell his client to the masses for the upcoming main event in the Madison Square Garden. With slight jabs on the competitor while emphasizing the Beast's dominance, Paul Heyman had to face the Big Show that came out to state his motivation to push each other to the limit. (+1 to Paul Heyman's everlasting power on the mike, +1 to the Big Show's determination)
+ Even though he accepted the challenge to fight one on one, Bray Wyatt still brought his 'family members' out just for indimidation's sake and got called out for it by Roman Reigns, with an insult to emphasize it. When the match finally started, they went toe to toe as they gained the upper hand in turns, definitely showing their chemistry in and out of the ring and putting each other on top with every passing second. As the moves started escalating in technique, power and also risk, they ended up caring less with the match and more with a full-on brawl fight on the mat as the referee counted both of them out.
+ Although the match was officially over, they were still at it and even moved into the crowd section until Wyatt decided to pick and toss a WWE tech worker at Reigns and he took that opportunity to cross body block him through the barricade. As Bray took the time to pose and gloat to the audiences on the announce table, Roman quickly recuperated and speared him through the said table and the show ended on them laying on the floor in the aftermath of their encounter.
(match ended by count out [No Contest] - Rating = 4/5 - +1 to Roman Reigns' explosive power, +1 to Bray Wyatt's mystical power)
