(Director Guillermo del Toro, Production 021014-051414 -> Release Date 161015, Budget $55 Millions -> Box Office $30.5>> Millions, Duration 1 hr 59 min, Rating R, Genre - Drama, Fantasy, Gothic, Horror)
"A tense journey through another tactile world of del Toro's filled with its gothic romance that is fully realised but just too grand for him to tell flawlessly."
+/- Gothic romance at its finest with great performances by the splendid cast with serviceable buildup in the story but get sidelined to focus more on the particular haunted estate
+/- Marvelous house brought to life figuratively and literally, having a character of its own and overshadowing the human characters with its own haunting traits and the accompanying specters
+ Treading less on the usual horror movie tropes with more focus on the human aspects and less on the supernatural but the suspenseful haunting and action sequences are effective when executed
+ Award-worthy production value that is to be expected from the famed director, giving the film an authentic feel with its elaborate wardrobe and period setting
