TV Show Review 018 Marvel's Daredevil s02e01 (Netflix) [2016]

Marvel's Daredevil s02e01 Bang [2016] 4.5/5

[Highlight for spoiler] > Great reintroduction with an opening chasing scene in the same veins as Marvel's cinematic superhero with the vigilante finally in his full red suit that is divisive in the acceptance of its appearance but now it looks perfectly fitting when in motion, coupled with his flowing actions mirroring his high confidence as his role of a masked vigilante. Next morning's argument between Foggy’s desire for self-preservation and Murdock’s desire for self-destruction at the cost of others’ safety sees the change of dynamic between them with more trust exchanged.

[Highlight for spoiler] > An emerging Irish mob who want to fill in the power vacuum by Wilson Fisk seemed to be a good setup for a new foe for Daredevil but it was cut short by cascading shot through the dive bar with bodies and bullets falling in gruesome detail. The only surviving victim seek protection and representation from the lawyers which was an ingenious way to tie in Daredevil's life and placing him in front of the Punisher's crosshair.

[Highlight for spoiler] > The armed vigilante tried to tie his loose end by vehemently brandishing his shotgun in a hospital, efficiently disarming an armed guard while taking hit shot carefully in the chaos that he created, showcasing his efficiency and also his moral code. The first fight between Murdock and Castle is everything it needs to be, showing off the strengths and differences of both characters. Whereas Daredevil is a all about agility and speed while the Punisher is a calculated big boulder, fast effective jabs against direct heavy lunges that highlights the choreography at its finest but the encounter ends because of the one edge the soldier has over the Devil, seemingly ending with a bullet to the head and off the building.

"Daredevil’s second season kicked off with a bang, with a sense of normalcy returned to the world of the blind vigilante but his heroics inadvertently brought out the other criminal forces out of hiding, as well as a vigilante force that has the same wish in mind but a different approach to get it."

+/- Great reintroduction of the masked vigilante in his groove with his day job finally hitting its strides after last season's triumph although without much monetary success, the trio playing their parts wonderfully around each other with Foggy a friend in secrecy while Karen with her street smart and also a crush on Matt < [highlight for spoiler]  although they do have a number of detractors
A smart diversion with an apparent introduction of a new mob but instead it was for the armed vigilante shows the change in tone in this season opener that leaned more towards an explosion of carnage instead of a thump of violence
The choreographed fighting scenes are used to show Daredevil's efficiency in combating the thugs but the surprised yet welcome encounter between the two clashing vigilantes showcases the difference in their fighting styles with their own strengths and weaknesses seemed to be canceling each other, that is until the eventual "Bang!" < [highlight for spoiler]
Contrasting main antagonists between the Kingpin's vampiric desire to feed off the city for his own strength while the Punisher's own nature of unflinching monstrosity, being created to solely leave a trail of corpses in his wake, in the name of vigilante justice.
