Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig) and Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy) are a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. A few years later, Gilbert lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia University, but her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. When ghosts invade Manhattan, Gilbert reunites with Yates, teaming up with a nuclear engineer, Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon), and a subway worker, Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones), to save the world from a mysterious evil and powerful demon known as Rowan (Neil Casey).

"It's still remain to be seen how this inevitable reboot attempt would be in the end but the constant update of information is adequate so far although besides the characters it is almost exactly like the first movie." 

~ A risky yet inevitable attempt to reboot this beloved and revered cult classic, under the guidance of the established comedy director and without the inclusion of the original characters but instead would be replaced by a solid cast 
-/+ Die hard fans have been constantly frowned upon this particular idea that it is treated as a disrespectful act against the original movies and the negative feedback have been clouding over this production but handled rather graciously by the director 
+/- The marketing campaign has been consistently trickling out ahead of his upcoming release but there are valid reasons to be worried because of its apparent pandering to people's nostalgic feels instead of introducing something new and fresh from the new cast and the reboot itself
