Mowgli (Neel Sethi) is a boy who was raised by the Indian wolves Raksha (Lupita Nyong'o) and Akela (Giancarlo Esposito). When the fearsome Bengal tiger Shere Khan (Idris Elba) threatens his life, Mowgli leaves his jungle home. Guided by Bagheera the black panther (Ben Kingsley) and Baloo the bear (Bill Murray), he sets out on a journey of self-discovery. Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who do not exactly have his best interests at heart-including Kaa (Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (Christopher Walken), an orangutan-resembling Gigantopithecus[1] who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly "red flower" (fire).

(Director Jon Favreau, Writer Justin Marks (screenplay) & Rudyard Kipling (book), Production 070913~?, Budget $? Millions -> Box Office $? Millions, Duration ?, Rating ?, Genre - Adventure, Drama, Fantasy)

+ A confident followup after a string of successful live action adaptations of  their beloved classic franchises (Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent and Cinderella) with an all-star ensemble voice cast bringing it to the next level and complementing the only onscreen performance by a kid newcomer
+/- Risky yet courageous step to have only one real-life human character in a full rendered world and animals that is a testament to how far the technology has gone so far, the recent posters and trailers holding up to that challenge but it could still be jarring and takes time to get used to for some viewers
+/- The decision to incorporate the famous animated adaptation along with the original novel's storyline could be decisivewith a lot hanging on to the perfect balance of the two without alienating any of the fans
