Tips, see Thursday 033 & misc list 257
It's been awhile...
This just crossed my mind when I was browsing for games that I would add to the list...:

#087: what is the concensus?
This is the easiest foolproof approach you could take if you're just starting to get familiar with the online gaming aggregate community. Just search for games in a genre that you enjoy the most and list them from the most positive at the top first, although that might be too broad so keep adding sub-category to narrow it down and not get too bogged down with virtually limitless options. Maybe you found a franchise that is to your liking or maybe a developer that has a good track record, both a viable road to go down into. The review percentages are not the be-all and end-all though, since the players would not just touch upon the quality of the game but beyond i.e. broken promises or misleading advertising for example. Please do read through more than a couple of the hands-on reviews to gauge for yourself whether the product would appeal to you or not despite the score attached to it.

#088: spoiler-free or minimalist?
Aside from reading the reviews of the game, I might want you to try this different approach in searching for new games to play with. If you already have a genre that you're most comfortable with and know what kind of gaming experience you want to delve into, try to search with those scopes in mind but do not read more than only skin-deep, just pick recent or established games that have good gamer scores on random, without learning more about the storyline or the game mechanics, going in spoiler-free and experience the product in real time without being spoiled of any kind of surprise that awaits you. This could be risky but the joy of finding a rare gem is priceless.

#089: from the most to the least
I want to go back to the first point and expound upon it, encouraging you to take the number of reviews into consideration even more so. While the amount that reach tens of thousands indicate the top of the mountain in regards to their popularity, do not view those with less than just a couple of hundreds are not worth the time and effort from you. Whether from a lack of effective online press or freshly released with not a good amount of word of mouth, these possible hidden gems could strike your fancy if you've only given them a chance. Know that the most popular games out there might not be your cup of tea, so please give yourself a room to browse the room so to speak.

Well, that's all folks! Thank you for your time and please do come back for my future posts! :-)
